Gang of 8’s Jeff Flake fudges on border security

Duck, dodge and obfuscation become hallmarks of AZ’s junior senator

Chris Chmielenski writing for NumbersUSA exposes AZ Sen. Jeff Flake’s exaggerations during questioning by Sens. Jeff Sessions and John Cornyn. The back story and exact quotes are riveting.

Flake also stretched the facts when describing the makeup of the Southern Border Security Commission — which comes complete with a $2 billion authorization — saying it will be made up of “border governors, local ranchers, and others.” Not quite.

Read the facts here. The actual bill — all 867 pages of it — is here. The third word in the third sentence after the bill number (S. 744) is about as accurate a description as we can expect.

Let your voice be heard. The Phoenix Remember 1986 Coalition has scheduled a press conference at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 21, at Sens. John McCain and Sen. Jeff Flake’s Phoenix Offices, S/E Corner of Camelback and 22nd Street to denounce the comprehensive Amnesty Bill and to remind McCain and Flake of the failed 1986 Amnesty. The event is part of a nationwide “No on S744” day. Participants are urged to bring visuals (signs). “The Remember 1986 Coalition advocates for true immigration reform without a controversial amnesty element which has scuttled previous attempts at federal immigration legislation, according to spokesman Barbra Heller. Check out the national grades on the Immigration Report Card Locator  In Arizona, junior Sen. Jeff Flake is rated D+. His mentor, John McCain comes in even lower, with a D-.

Is it no wonder that Congress has such a low rating with the people. It is now considered normal for the voters to assume that the members of congress will put their own interests before the good of the country.

    • sgtflapjaw says:

Somehow these posers think that after they take an oath to protect our laws and constitution, and then start changing the laws to suit their own leftists views, and think it’s the same thing.
      Arrogance is a uncurable disease.

  2. State Committeeman says:

A vote for Flake was a vote for the continuation of pushing more amnesty prizes for illegals. If you liked the deception of the McCain and Kyl duo, you’ll be in your element with McCain and Flake. These frauds are undermining the GOP and this nation founded in laws. Giving the greatest gift to those who wantonly break our laws is self defeating lunacy.

  3. eubkdisop says:

Your emphasis on the law is quite appropriate, State Committeeman!

Chris Crane, of the ICE agents union, has been the “Gang of 8” plans since day one. Now he has company!

“Second immigration officer union comes out against Senate immigration bill”

    “Published May 20, 2013”

“WASHINGTON – The leader of a union representing 12,000 federal immigration officers said Monday his group is joining a growing list of similar organizations opposed to the sweeping immigration bill crafted by the Gang of Eight lawmakers and under consideration in Congress.”

“The union represents officers of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency responsible for processing visas and other immigration papers.”

“Palinkas says the bill doesn’t address the pressure he claims is put on adjudication officers to rubber stamp applications instead of conducting diligent case reviews. He says it fails to fix the “insurmountable bureaucracy” which often prevents USCIS officers from contacting and coordinating with ICE agents in cases that should have their involvement, and doesn’t do enough to address the problem of student visa overstays.”

  4. East Valley Conservative says:

The truth is, we have no one to blame but the apathetic and out of touch voters as well as the scheme of allowing registered Independents to vote in primary elections.

Anyone with any sense knew (or should have known) what Jeff Flake was all about. He served in congress long enough to have a track record of following the likes of McCain and Kyl. Why were they traveling the state and cutting commereicals on his behalf? They knew he was their dutiful amnesty pup. Too many stood by after he lied about about his term limits pledge and reelected him here in the old CD6. He’s no genius, but he is slick. And he has perfected an everready grin as he stabs us in the back.

  5. eubykdisop says:

There are provisions in the “Gang of 8” amnesty bill to give millions of taxpayer dollars to some of our favorite Liberal pro-illegal alien organizations.

“Immigration Bill Contains Slush Funds for Pro-Amnesty Groups”

“By Jon Feere, May 1, 2013”

“The pro-amnesty lobbyists who helped craft the Schumer-Rubio immigration bill included within the bill two “slush funds” amounting to $150 million that may be supplemented with additional taxpayer dollars for years to come.”

“Considering that millions of dollars will go to groups like La Raza, Casa de Maryland, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, it’s not surprising that these groups are cheerleaders for the Schumer-Rubio bill.”

  6. Kathy says:

Redstate has Schumer on a hot mic – gving the Republicans deals/cover. Flake included!
This is so disgusting. The lies, lies, lies.

“Watchdog report says DOJ official retaliated against ‘Furious’ whistle-blower, lied about it”

“By William La Jeunesse, Published May 20, 2013”

“The former U.S. Attorney for Arizona could be disbarred, after an investigation found he lied to the Justice Department about his role in trying to discredit the federal whistle-blower who exposed the botched gun-running scheme known as Fast and Furious.”

“An Office of Inspector General report showed that Dennis Burke — the former chief of staff for Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appointed as U.S. Attorney for Arizona by President Obama in September 2009 — lied when asked if he leaked sensitive documents to the press meant to undermine the credibility of ATF whistle-blower John Dodson.”

Burke was Napolitano’s Chief of Staff when she was governor of Arizona. He followed her to Washington and was appointed U. S. Attorney for Arizona, only to resign in disgrace when he admitted lying in information supplied to Congress, denying that any guns were being walked into Mexico.

Off Topic: There is NOTHING that Liberal Democrats will not do to “win” the 2014 elections and take back control of the House so that in the last two years of Obama’s term they can ram through the complete Marxist agenda!

Here we have a foreign firm that makes voting machines and software which just bought an electronic voting firm linked to George Soros. Then the Soros-linked outfit got rave reviews from… ANOTHER Soros linked company!

“Look who’s rubber stamping foreign vote-counting”

“Certifies firm as ‘efficient, secure, transparent, reliable'”

“The foreign-headquartered company that recently purchased the leading U.S. electronic voting firm is boasting that it was highlighted in a report on how technology is making the election process more efficient, secure, transparent, accessible and reliable.”

“The report, WND has learned, was authored by a firm with links to billionaire activist George Soros.”

“The information comes after WND reported two weeks ago that SCYTL recently acquired the software division of a non-profit election organization tied to Soros’ Open Society Institute.”

“Yesterday, WND reported SCYTL announced its technology will be deployed at more U.S. jurisdictions ahead of the 2014 midterm elections.”

  9. AnObservation says:

    Hey SRAZ,

There was a vote that Jeff Flake took a few months ago that very few seem to have noticed. Back in March, during the Senate’s “vote-a-rama”, Jeff Flake voted AGAINST an amendment proposed by Senator Ted Cruz that would have prevented the US from paying the UN if any of its members forced their women to have involuntary abortions (i.e. China, North Korea). So, in effect, Jeff Flake voted to continue to both a.) participate in the United Nations and b.) to continue to subsidize abortion around the world.

Luckily, Heritage Action caught the vote and scored against it:
    So much for being pro-life!

Also, Jeff Flake voted for the unconstitutional Violence Against Women Act, voted for the confirmation of anti-Semite Chuck Hagel, and voted to weaken Republicans’ ability to block bad legislation by voting change the filibuster rules.

Man, this creep isn’t even pretending to be a conservative anymore!

    • eubykdisop says:

Wow! Superb job of bringing to light what SHOULD have been front page news in the media! I notice that McCain also voted against Ted Cruz’s U. N. amendment.
