Happy Father’s Day

Fathers take our hands and give us their hearts

With affection and appreciation to all of the Fathers, Dads, Papas and Grandpas who have guided us along the way.

 Have a wonderful day.

My dad taught me how to lay brick, play poker, throw a football and enjoy trout. I remember riding in the back of his work truck as he drove my friends and I around in our neighborhood. I remember the day he went out of his way to bring baby chicks to my kindergarden class for show and tell. He taught me to always do my best. He loved my mother unconditionally and showed it. I adored him.

He was blessed with two daughters, with me as the eldest, and he never made me feel that he would have preferred a son. He died of a brain aneurysm at 34 and I still miss him 47 years later.

What a dad brings to a child’s life is important and complements what mothers bring. The liberal press may want to make the case that moms and dads are interchangeable- it just isn’t so. Kids who grow up with 2 moms or 2 dads will be missing something wonderful that happens when a dad loves the mother of his kids and the kids can see it and hear it every day. I, thankfully, married such a man. My dad would have approved.

Dads matter- and deserve to be celebrated.

God bless all of you Dads.
