Remembering our many blessings this Independence Day

 4th of July Washington

….and honoring those 56 brave men who had the vision and strength of character to challenge authority and affix their signatures to the Declaration of Independence.

Before signing the Declaration of Independence, our Founders included this memorable line:

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

May God continue to bless America.

Happy 237th birthday to America! I pray we survive the next three years.

Today we celebrate winning our independence from England and extracating ourselves from monarchy. That marked the beginning of the American struggle, not the end. The Continental Army defeated the British, not evil. The battle between good and evil rages on.

Today the battle is fought not with cannon and muskets but with economics, propaganda and legal action. Despite the change in weaponry, the battle is no less fierce and the consequences of the outcome no less serious.

The establishment of The United States of America was a declaration of war on evil in all it’s forms. That battle never ends but merely waxes and wanes.

Let us celebrate the 4th of July as the beginning of the American “War on Evil” knowing that, while evil never rests, God is omnipotent. All that is asked of us is that we each do our part to the best of our abilities.
