At 2012 National Convention re-nominating Obama, Democrats booed the inclusion of God in their party platform
When discussing differences between Republicans and Democrats the topic usually turns to individual responsibility vs. government paternalism; a commitment to smaller federal bureaucracy vs. higher taxes funding ever-increasing programs; and the conservative dedication to Constitutional-based liberty. Invariably, issues relating to the sanctity of life enter the equation. Republicans generally put a premium on the God-given gift of human life.
The Iowa Republican blog reports that Iowa Democrat gubernatorial candidates Jack Hatch and Tyler Olson bowed their heads and solemnly closed their eyes as they joined 50 pro-abortion activists in an extended prayer that repeatedly celebrated abortion during a recent rally at the State Capitol. Des Moines activist Midge Slater took the podium and spent five-and-a-half minutes thanking God for abortion “rights,” abortion “doctors” and taxpayer funding for abortions. She also referred to the decision to have an abortion as “a blessing.”
Here are a few excerpts from the pro-abortion prayer:
“We give thanks, oh Lord, for the doctors, both current and future, who provide quality abortion care.”
“We pray for increased financial support for low-income women to access contraception, abortion and childcare.”
“Today, we pray for women in developing nations, that they may know the power of self-determination. May they have access to employment, education, birth control and abortion.”
“Today we pray for the families who have chosen. May they know the blessing of choice.” Click here for video.
Just last year the Democrats held their national convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The assembled delegates used the occasion to boo the inclusion of God in their party platform and jeer updated language identifying Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel. Watch their obscene antics included in the video here.
