Watch, if you can stand it, as Thomas Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, describes the pressing need for immigrants to fill American jobs and compete with citizen workers for those declining jobs.
This most recent employment situation summery released by the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, tells a different story. Take into consideration that these numbers are routinely released by the Obama administration, which would try to put the best face on the continuing dismal unemployment numbers. Yet it cites 11.3 million Americans still unemployed, with the unemployment rate at 7.3 percent. The number of involuntary part-time workers — those whose hours have been cut back or were unable to find full-time jobs stood 8.1 million in October.
Among the 1.5 million “marginally attached,” the government counts 815,000 discouraged workers — persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them — essentially unchanged from this time last year. Scroll through this chart going back to 1947 for an historical snapshot.
Donohue, whose members profit from paying substandard wages to illegal workers, farcically claims the public stands fully behind amnesty, saying “71 percent of Americans support immigration reform.”
National pollster Pew Research reports less than a third of the public (32%) approves of the job Obama is doing on immigration policy with 60% disapproving of his push for amnesty. Breitbart titles this article “Public revolts against Obama, political establishment’s amnesty efforts.”
