First time jobless claims rise to near 9-month high

Obama’s frolic while Americans struggle

As the coolly indifferent Obama’s embarked on their annual 17-day Christmas vacation on the white sand beaches and golf courses of Hawaii, the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose last week to the highest level in nearly nine months.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 379,000, according the figures recently released by the U.S. Department of  Labor. That was the highest level since March and marked the second straight week that claims have risen.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected first-time applications to fall to 334,000 last week. But the four-week moving average for new claims actually increased 13,250 to 343,500.

“This is not really good. Some of us had thought last week’s jump was an aberration. We have to see what’s going on here. Obviously the Fed won’t be looking at these numbers kindly after what happened yesterday,” said Joel Naroff, president of Naroff Economic Advisors.

The claims report showed the number of people still receiving benefits under regular state programs after an initial week of aid rose 94,000 to 2.88 million in the week ended Dec. 7.

Scroll through this press release and check the states with the highest filings of new claims for unemployment benefits.

The largest increases in initial claims were in California (up 21,876), New York (up 14,322), Pennsylvania (up 14,004), Georgia (up 11,582), and Texas (up 9,761).  These numbers represent families and individuals hit hard by the economic downturn and struggling, not to get through the holidays, but simply provide the basics to function.

But Barack and Michelle Obama; their two daughters, Malia and Sasha; his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson; friends, extended family and even the White House chef (they do have to eat, after al!) and the family’s Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny are indifferently frolicking. This luxurious, nearly $8 million home, on the island of Oahu is their cozy getaway.

Is it any wonder Obama is ending his fifth year in office with the worst public approval ratings of his presidency, record numbers of Americans saying they disapprove of his job performance and his level of trust factor seriously eroded?

These miserable jobless numbers combined with Barack Obama’s regal indifference, and the massive failure of his socialist “healthcare” overreach SHOULD ensure Republican victories this coming November. But count on the GOP to screw up the gift they’ve been given by way of Democrat arrogance and ineptness.

Republicans will continue to enter into so-called “bi-partisan” ventures to show their willingness to “move forward,” something Democrats never do. If Republicans cave on something as fundamental to strengthening Democrat numbers as gifting amnesty, I will actively work against my own congressman. I say this as a lifelong conservative Republican who has been a precinct committeeman for many years. I urge others to consider such action. If they aid and abet Dems by giving legitimate status to at least 25 million who have criminally invaded our country (and who will surely register as Democrats), they show they are no different than those liberals I’ve worked to defeat all these years. Why would I support a Republican who is their willing counterpart?

What you say is completely true. I’ve been reading that the GOP intends to accomplish their conspiracy with the Dems through “piecemeal” efforts to get amnesty through. Those so called “representatives” in DC don’t care about representing us. Their only concern is retaining what they consider to be “their” House and Senate seats. I have a bit of news for them. We put them their through our efforts, donations and votes, and can take them out as well. Those are not “their” seats. They are ours! Amnesty is also the tipping point for me. The numbers in this post emanate from Thomas Perez a committed left winger amnesty promoter who has had his long reach into Arizona when he was with the Department of Justice. I suspect the figures are actually worse than indicated. But the question to ask is why would there be ANY effort to bring in millions more to compete with American citizens for fewer jobs?

Amnesty will serve only to encourage more illegals. These complicit “piecemeaers” are fools and Democrat tools.

This article says the feds are seeing a surge in children being trasnported across the border. They were leftin Mexico and Central American counties by their parents who are now entrusting them to members of violent criminal drug cartels to smuggle them into the United States. These must be the “good family values” we keep hearing about….

At a news conference before they and their entourage left on their grand vacation, (much of it at our expense!) Obama said he hoped to spend the holidays thinking about how to rebound in 2014. He could begin by ditching Obamacare, his socialist dream to bring down our country, further our debt and restrict the health care choices of Americans.
