Illegals: The misuse of scripture for political gain

Biblical translations misinterpreted by some evangelical clergy to advance amnesty

James Robb, Operations VP for NumbersUSA writes: “This is the time of year when many pro-amnesty advocates in the pulpit and the press misuse the Bible to try to advance their cause. This year, churchgoers are fortunate to have access to a much different explanation of scripture, thanks to the emergence of a group called Evangelicals for Biblical Immigration and to a fascinating panel recently sponsored by the Heritage Foundation to inform congressional staffers and the media.”

Do yourself a favor. Take time to read this enlightening and well referenced blog post, “Leading Evangelicals Show that Bible Has Been Misinterpreted,” and watch the panel presentation.

  1. State Delegate says:

OK. I’ve completed my “assigned” reading, SRAZ, and have to say I came away more informed!! One of the links in Robb’s column included the remarks made by Mark Tooley, at the Heritage Foundation forum on Evangelicals and Immigration. His thoughts on this topic did a great job of clarifying the issue as we precinct committeemen describe the problematic situation to others.
    His statement includes this proposal:
“Christians also should be cautioned against sweeping ‘comprehensive’ legislative solutions to deep, pervasive political problems. Solutions to most political challenges are more typically incremental. And in our fallen world, reputed solutions, even when implemented relatively effectively, usually create new problems demanding attention. And in this particular debate we should avoid rhetoric that romanticizes immigrants no less than avoiding demonization.
Immigrants, legal and illegal, are frail humans like us all, a combination of virtues and vices. Their presence among us brings both gifts and troubles. Our prisons are full of tens of thousands of immigrants, legal and illegal, who have committed heinous crimes. There are also, of course, millions who work hard, are faithful to their families, and love their new country. Likewise, many immigrants, even while working hard, ultimately draw government benefits and services that outstrip their financial contributions, making their presence in America an additional fiscal stress upon our already fraying and probably unsustainable entitlement state. The mass legalization of 11 million illegal immigrants, as presently construed, would likely add to that stress.”

  2. ZOO says:

The “this Congress” tab on NumbersUSA report cards apparently indicate the latest update on congressional office holders. The problem created by lack of frequent updating is a misleading rating. Such is the case of Trent Franks, pulling a “C” rating when just 60 days ago he became the “29th House Republican” to side with amnesty after praying with squatting amnesty hucksters on his front lawn.

    • American Dad says:

You’re right, ZOO. I nearly gagged when I saw the news clip of Trent Franks welcoming the demanding squatters camping out in the front yard of his home. I live in CD 8 and have long regarded him as being a strong voice for America. Another disappointment.

Another major problem is the repeated undercount of illegal aliens The actual number is multiples of the 11 million that has been in use for years. We need to wise up to the massive size of the invasion, factored with their high birth rates and the additonal impact of birthright citizenship and chain migration. The additional negatives of their massive numbers collide with providing jobs and education to our own citizens, the result of which will see the US becoming a third world country like the ones the illegals are fleeing instead of fixing.

Americans have been lied to for years by our own goverment. Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano sold the Democrat Party’s line by telling us “Our borders have never been stronger,” when the truth is just the opposite. George W. Bush also supported giving amnesty to criminal invaders entering the United States illegally.

WND reported that illegals were not only invading the United States from Mexico and other Latin American countries, but illegal aliens from countries known to support and sponsor terrorism routinely sneak across the U.S.-Mexico border, including militant Islamists from Afghanistan, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Yemen.

  3. Attila The Hunny says:

Watch this shocking ABC News 10 report filed in 2011 from San Diego. Then ask yourself if the amnesty pushing co-conspirers at the AZ Republic and Channel 12 would ever run such a report. The answer is a resounding “NEVER!!”

  4. Kent says:

Earlier this year NewsMax reported There are at least 7,518 reasons to get the U.S.-Mexican border under control. That equals the number of aliens apprehended in fiscal year 2011 from the four nations that federal officials label “state sponsors of terrorism” plus 10 “countries of interest.”

  5. Seeing Red AZ says:

Seeing Red AZ posted “Hezbollah on our doorstep: Radical Muslims in border towns,” in May 2011.
It includes an shocking photo of the terrorist Yasser Arafat meeting with Mexican members of anti-American MEChA,under a photo of the ruthless and repressive Ayatollah Khomein, then-leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Michelle Malkin exposed their link as it relates to indoctrinating American school children in 2006 writing “MEChA Madrassa gets thumbs up.”

MEChA is rooted in Aztlan propaganda which asserts Mexican rights to “re-conquer” the states of Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington.
Sonoran News investigative reporter Linda Bentley, well ahead of the curve, filed this must-read exposé nearly eleven years ago in 2003.
