SRAZ’s state legislative endorsements

July 31, 2014

Last week we provided our list of conservative endorsements in Arizona’s statewide races.

Today we’re looking at the state legislature.  Each legislative district has two House seats and one Senate seat. Districts with uncontested primaries or races with no actual conservative candidates, have been left blank.  There are also candidates for whom we have too little information to render an opinion.  You do not have to vote for two in the House if there is just one conservative candidate.

The overriding factors we considered revolve around adherence to conservative, Constitutional principles and protecting our great nation against invasion.

Early ballots will be mailed out today, July 31. The date of the Primary Election is August 26, 2014, when you can actually go to your polling place. Locate it here.

How badly do you want a taco?

July 30, 2014

Unsavory McCain alliances taint taco fest

Republicans in state Legislative District 28 are in a tough spot.  They have a choice between sending RINOs or a Democrat to the Arizona House of Representatives. Attempting to differentiate one from the other is a fool’s errand. The same holds true for the district’s state senator, immigration lawyer Adam Driggs.

To aid and abet the election of yet another RINO, Sen. Nancy Barto (LD 15) and Rep. Justin Olson (LD 25) are lending their names and presence to a “Meet and Greet” taco soiree on behalf of LD 28 House candidate Shawnna Bolick. Her coup establishment endorsers Jeff Flake and the ubiquitous Bill Montgomery are otherwise ocupado.

On her campaign website, Bolick contends “our legal immigration system has been broken for decades,” and “we must restore a work-based immigration system…..”

During her failed 2010 campaign Bolick had the endorsement of Doug McDucey, now a gubernatorial candidate and the fast food mogul Jason LeVecke, an illegal labor profiteer.

And the salsa on the frijoles? The festivities are at the Paradise Valley home of Bill and Debbie Cheatham. Republican insiders will remember Bill Cheatham as the McCain choice poised to topple Rob Haney as Maricopa County Republican chairman. But a conservative tsunami rocked the GOP 2011 meeting when conservative Haney, with a massive show of support, trounced Cheatham 1281 – 575

Shawnna Bolick was a prime supporter of Bill Cheatham’s, handing out anti-Haney fliers at that meeting.

On the taco invitation, which we’ve chosen not to post, Shawnna says she’s hosted many meet-and-greets throughout this election cycle, but she just “wants to see you once more.”

Here’s hoping she gets her wish.

Montgomery’s conflict of interest undergirds legal filing

July 29, 2014

The Arizona Daily Independent reports on the blatant conflict of interest exhibited by Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery as he engages in campaigning for Attorney General Tom Horne’s challenger, Mark Brnovich  —- even as he uses the vast power of his office to personally target Horne.

According to the news account, sources are reporting that based on Montgomery’s relationship with Brnovich, a request for a restraining order will be filed by attorneys for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Although a video featuring a sincerely enthusiastic Montgomery has been removed from Brnovich’s campaign website, a statement of support remains on the candidate’s homepage.

Given that Montgomery, who has become a close McCain and Kyl ally, was instrumental in recruiting Brnovich to challenge conservative Attorney General Tom Horne, his actions rise past the level of unseemliness.

Read more about the perspective temporary restraining order, permanent injunction pleading here.

Visit Tom Horne’s campaign website. Be sure to check out his impressive achievements while in office. Arizonans need this good man to continue his work on our behalf.

John McCain, Jeff Flake working to aid invasion

July 27, 2014

AZ senate duo’s legislation encourages more illegals

According to this account posted on Liberty News, Arizona’s poor excuses for U.S. Senators John McCain and his doppelganger Jeff Flake are actually about to begin heavily pushing a disastrous $100,000,000 bill that not only does nothing to secure the border, but actually makes it easier for more illegal aliens to flood our nation. Known as the “CREST ACT,” (‘‘Children Returning an Expedited and Safe Timeline Act’’) key provisions of the bill provide for the following:

1) Initially allocates $100 million of our tax dollars.

2) Asserts acts that are already illegal are now illegal.

3) Makes it a federal crime to prohibit a DHS, HHS or BP bus from moving from point A to point B. (Correction to this assertion posted by Sara Noble on The Independent Sentinel)

4) Does absolutely nothing to secure the border and stop the invasion in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas. These southern borders will remain wide open and the bill doesn’t address this.

5) Creates a communication channel between HHS and states about newly recommended facilities for housing illegal aliens.

6) Opens up U.S. facilities in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador for the purpose of processing illegal aliens on foreign soil.

7) Calls for 15,000 “refugees” from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to be processed on foreign soil and transported into the U.S. this year alone.

Refugees will be increased to 15,000 from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador combined (5,000 from each country.) We will go to these countries, pick out the would-be illegals, and fly them into our country at taxpayer expense.

Further, the bill authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to hire 100 new asylum officers to be placed in the Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations Directorate of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Care to take a guess how the words “refugee” and “asylum seekers” will transform this equation? Those illegals designated  as refugees will get IDs, an income, food, housing and a pathway to citizenship.

The entire bill can be read here.

This is absolutely mind-numbing. Liberty News’ Eric Odom correctly assesses “Barack Obama doesn’t even need to abuse his executive powers. John McCain and Jeff Flake are doing all of his dirty work for him.”

According to a recent press release from McCain’s office, the act addresses a growing “humanitarian crisis.” Don’t buy it.  This is a crisis all right, but the correct descriptive words to describe it are “illegal invasion.”  “Humanitarian” is a contrivance and deluding misnomer.

Persecution of Iraqi Christians garners little notice

July 27, 2014

Reports: There is not a single Christian family left in Mosul

This chilling article detailing the horrors facing Christians in Iraq was printed in The Guardian, a U.K. publication. The U.S. press is mostly silent on the terror being imposed by Islamic militants.

The last Christians in northern Iraqi cities such as Mosul have fled from places where their communities have lived for almost 2,000 years, as a deadline passed for them to convert to Islam, pay an onerous religious tax or be killed.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recently issued a decree offering Christians the three options accompanied by the ominous threat that, if they did not comply, “then there is nothing to give them but the sword.”

Mosul includes the site of ancient Nineveh, the city to which biblical prophet Jonah was dispatched by God.  It was first mentioned in Genesis 10:11-12.

National Review’s The Corner carries a commentary The Attack on Christians in the Middle East by Rev. Robert Barron, which opens with “Though you would never guess it from the paucity of coverage in the major news media, there is a fierce persecution of Christians going on in the Middle East. In Egypt, convents and churches are being burned to the ground and Copts, members of one of the most ancient Christian communities, are being routinely harassed, tortured, and arrested. In Iraq, the ISIS group, hoping to re-establish a “caliphate” across the northern sector of the Middle East, is brutally persecuting Christians.”

When Barack Obama recently hosted his sixth Iftar dinner celebrating Ramadan at the White House, it would be interesting to know if he brought up the topic of Christians suffering torture and death at the hands of Muslim fundamentalists before or after what the White House blog refers to as the “traditional melodic Muslim call to prayer.”  Then again, it might have slipped his mind during the festivities.

Take some time this Sunday to read the linked news articles and acquaint yourself with the hard facts.

The White House website claims “President Obama is committed to creating the most open and accessible administration in American history.” This site provides contact information.

Ch. 3 debate producer disputes Brnovich’s claim

July 26, 2014

“Integrity” Mark Brnovich claims to possess takes a hike in favor of desperation, campaign expediency

From MCRC Briefs July 24:  AG Candidate Mark Brnovich’s July 21 Promo Statement ‘untrue’ that, “…Mr. Horne would not appear in the same room as us for the debate” for the Sunday night Attorney General candidate debate, according to the show producer.

Sybil Hoffman, executive producer of the Channel 3 Sunday evening debate, said, “That is not true.”  Hoffman said that the station put the candidates in different rooms to video the debate. “Neither candidate asked for a separate room. The decision was entirely that of the station,” Hoffman said.

Incumbent Attorney General Tom Horne also said that it was the station’s decision to video the candidates in separate rooms.

Included in Brnovich’s July 21 fundraising promo were these words he knew to be untrue: “We were disappointed that Mr. Horne would not appear in the same room as us for the debate, but we look forward to future opportunities to demonstrate to voters who is best suited to represent voters this November in the general election. Please take some time to watch the debate and decide who you want fighting for you and your conservative values in the Attorney General’s office.”

Engaging in outright deception when campaigning on “conservative values” is risky business.

Seeing Red AZ covered the debate highlights here.  Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is the conservative in this race. Mark Brnovich is the inept McEstablishment recruit.

Bush-Bolick duo pen another Open Borders missive

July 25, 2014

Bush tries to move away from notorious remark, “illegal immigration is an act of love”

Here we go again. The amnesty duo of Jeb Bush and Clint Bolick have co-authored yet again.  First it was their book “Immigration Wars: Forging an American Solution.”  Now the twosome has taken to the Opinion pages of the Wall Street Journal with “The Solution to Border Disorder.” The amnesty hucksters opine the “best antidote to illegal immigration is a functioning system of legal immigration.”

The usual blather about “America’s broken immigration system” leaps out in the first paragraph.  Next comes the trio of trites, beginning with the “need for compassion” in the face of the “humanitarian crisis.”

But what’s this? Bush and Bolick schizophrenically jump from these squish views to sounding like hardliners, with “we must close loopholes” that allow  for releases from federal custody between hearings.…except for those deserving few who may demonstrate true cause for asylum or protection from sex trafficking.  The flood of children must be returned to their homes in Central America. Then they say “we must aggressively remove the incentives that encourage people to break immigration laws.”

Whoa. Sorry pals. You can’t have it both ways.

But still they try. “We should pursue interdiction strategies that head off illegal immigration before it gets to our border, calling for greater American engagement economically.”  Moderates always think money has a palliative effect. These two sound suspiciously committed to Obama’s request for $3.7 billion of our tax dollars to address the invasion.

It’s no surprise the Bush-Bolick Team are onboard with the latest incarnation of McCain-Flake legislation, which they extol as increasing by 5,000 the number of humanitarian visas available in each of the countries producing the dispersion of illegals — Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras — providing an incentive, they claim, for individuals to stay in their home country and pursue immigration legally.

Trust in these practiced deceivers at your own peril.

As Jeb licks his chops in anticipation of a 2016 presidential run, it’s difficult not to agree with the Bush family matriarch, Barbara, who openly declared there had been “enough Bushes” in the Oval Office.

Mom is right. John Ellis Jeb,” is a Bush too far.”  Watch and listen closely.

AZ’s “botched” execution?

July 24, 2014

Victims Debbie and Gene Dietz forgotten

The Arizona Republic’s 2-word, oversized, all caps headline “BOTCHED EXECUTION,” is the type previously reserved for reporting a declaration of war. Actually, that’s exactly what it is. A war on the death penalty. The follow-up obligatory editorial calls for “a moratorium” on the practice, saying it defines “cruel.“ Columnists E. J. Montini and Laurie Roberts are reliably aboard with misplaced sympathies.

The Page One report continuing to two jump pages, was written by the newspaper‘s reporter, among the witnesses. It comes complete with the requisite full-color photo showing death penalty opponents, holding signs outside the state prison. One sign says, “No one deserves to die.”

It’s a good bet none of them were related to the victims of the grisly murders.

The reporter calls the execution a “gruesome scene.” He wasn’t referring to the site of the Tucson double homicide that left a father and daughter dead.

By now most Arizonans have heard the name Joseph Rudolph Wood.  He’s the cold-blooded double murderer whose execution, finally re-scheduled and carried out Wednesday, is the subject of the article. He’s lived an additional 25 years more than his forgotten victims, Debbie Dietz, just 29 years old at the time of her murder and her 55-year-old father, Gene Dietz. They were executed in 1989 at their family owned auto repair shop in Tucson.

For an account of what brought Woods to the day when his execution took longer than considered proper by the bleeding  hearts crowd, read what brought him to his end. The gruesome facts of the murders are not in readily available in the Arizona Media.

Family members of Wood’s victims, who also witnessed the execution, said they had no problems with the way it was carried out.

Jeanne Brown another daughter of victim Eugene Dietz, gave her view on whether Wood suffered. “You don’t know what excruciating is,” she said. “Excruciating is seeing your dad lying in a pool of blood.”

“This man conducted horrific murders and you guys are going, let’s worry about the drugs” (used in the lethal injection), said Richard Brown, the brother-in-law of Debbie Dietz.” Why didn’t they give him a bullet, why didn’t we give him Drano?”

The leftwing media is more concerned with the number of gasps Wood took as they report his death as “chilling.” Compounding the atrocious crimes he committed is the fact that his victims have become obscure as the murderer has bizarrely transmogrified into the sympathetic character.

Diane Douglas surging within days of early voting

July 23, 2014

Republic endorsement of Democrat a winner for GOP Douglas

Diane Douglas, conservative candidate for AZ Superintendent of Public Instruction is on a roll. First Douglas captured the attention and the endorsement of syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin, who has devoted the past two years to exposing the massive education fraud known as Common Core. Malkin describes Diane Douglas as “principled, clear-thinking, and bold.”

As if on cue, this week’s edition of the Weekly Standard features a cover story by Andrew Ferguson detailing the “Rotten to the Common Core” scheme.

Arizonans have come to expect the leftwing radicals at the Arizona República newspaper to push their own agenda, which consists of itching to replace Republicans with liberal Democrats. The promotion of Obama’s favored takeover of local control, marginalizing parental involvement is right up their alley.

A case in point are the ridiculous side-by-side editorials which ran Tuesday. One, appropriately placed on the left, touts the “Dems’ No. 1 candidate for state schools chief.” The brass of the editorial board is so thick they even advise him to hire his primary opponent! Abutting that absurd spew is a mirror image editorial for the same office on the Republican side. This dog-bites-man endeavor actually declares the “GOP lacks a good choice.”

To principled conservatives an endorsement from the leftist Arizona República would be a negative to run from.

We’ve been had by the now toxic Republicrat John Huppenthal, who is imploding before our very eyes. He ran as a conservative and ended up not only proudly announcing his statewide travels with Obama’s educrat czar Arne Duncan, but colluding with Gov. Brewer to flim -flam furious parents by deviously changing the name of the scheme, re-branding it “Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards,” via this executive order.

Diane Douglas is a welcome face on the political horizon.  She is warmly received at appearances throughout the state. The Arizona Daily Independent titled its coverage, “Douglas takes Huppenthal to the mat during GOP AZ Superintendent of Instruction Debate.”

If you missed the recent debate, watch it here.

This new ad is inundating conservative talk radio in the days preceding the arrival of early ballots. Douglas is making tracks and clearly knows the issues.  She deserves our votes.
