Surprising new AZ GOP slate announced at EGC

The Executive Guidance Committee of the Maricopa County Republican Committee (EGC) met for its usual first Thursday of the month meeting last night at the state Republican headquarters, 3501 N. 24th St., Phoenix.  A surprise announcement was the formation of a new slate for the party’s state officers:

AZ GOP chairman:  Lori Marsh Urban

1st Vice Chairman: A. J. LaFaro

2nd Vice Chairman: Gabriela Saucedo Mercer

Secretary: Lynne Bryer

Current AZ GOP chairman Robert Graham, who is waging an intense campaign for reelection, was not in attendance. Also MIA was Vernon Parker, the only newly elected Legislative District Chairman out of 20 Maricopa County districts who didn’t bother to show up.

The State Republican Organizational Meeting is January 24, 2015.

Well, no wonder —surprise, surprise, surprise—LD 28 hasn’t posed the election results yet on line or on their web site!!

  2. CD 8 PC says:

I’m confused. Is this the conservative slate? With AJ on it, I would say “YES!” Lynne Bryer? Not so sure.

  3. Daniel Stefanski says:

Vernon Parker sent a representative to last night’s meeting. It appeared that Ken Bennett, chair of LD 24 was not at the meeting, nor did he send a representative.

    • Seeing Red AZ says:

We stand corrected on Ken Bennett.
As to Vernon Parker’s “representative“ Tom Haney* —- his conservative credentials are as questionable as Parker’s.

Both Bennett and Parker knew what the agenda was and opted not to attend and have to vote on censuring Democrat-endorsing RINOs. That spinelessness speaks volumes.

(*Not to be confused with actual conservative ROB Haney)

  4. Arizona Conservative Guy says:

.Glad to see Gabby Mercer here. She’s an outstanding conservative and has run for congress twice in an effort to defeat the well funded radical Raul Grijalva.

Gabby is intelligent and knowledgeable on the issues facing Arizona. She’s a naturalized, LEGAL and intensely proud citizen, with an elegant manner most women could only dream of possessing. She’s quite a gift to the United States. I’d vote for this ticket based on Gabby alone, although as Maricopa County chairman, AJ LaFaro has shown the courage and backbone to stand up to the McEstablishment crowd that currently runs the state GOP. With Uban and Bryer on it, this slate isn’t perfect, but it has enough on it to earn my support. More of the same is not an option.

  5. PV PC says:

I remember when LD 28 was solidly conservative. Scott O’Connor did all he could to alter that dynamic. Now with the election of Vernon Parker and Tom Haney, it appears the dastardly deed is done. When I’ve attended the meetings, it’s easy to become confused and think I was at a Democrat function.

  6. Borderhawk. says:

Whatever is best to beat McCain if it takes some sort of moderate looking front.

I think some of them are worried that if you have a bunch of strong conservatives at the top of local leadership it will look like a personal vendetta against McCain.

McCain has to go because he is a flaming liberal, bad for moderates and conservatives with his views on arming ISIS and amnesty.

  7. CD9 PC says:

There’s some good people on this slate, but really all that matters to me (as far as the state party is concerned) is winning elections. And the current group has done that pretty darned well, so I’m cool with at least keeping Graham.

    • azgary says:

      spoken like a true rino.

winning elections like McCain, flake, the traitors of obrewercare etc…vs principles and what is right.

you are an example of everything that is wrong with the party.

    • ZOO says:

Truly inspiring. I’ll be sending Kyrsten Sinema a contribution for 2016.

  8. LEO IN TSN says:

McGraham, using his McCainiac team, is directly responsible for handing three (1, 2 & 3) congressional districts to the left. In all three districts, great conservative candidates were running, but McGraham gave the districts away. In 1 & 2, he McCained the conservatives in the primary with huge trash campaigns ala McAmnesty 2010 & McFlake 2012. CD1 went to a democrat leftist. CD2 – still in recount – may go to a boyish-looking DC carpetbagger who is a rubber stamp machine for McAmnesty & Big Daddy RINO Boehner. Her lawsuits may trump the vote and oust the incumbent dimocrat who was actually fighting for AZ and US on the A10 Airfleet and all matters military, matters on which the boyish carpetbagger has been virtually silent. And this because McAmnesty & McGraham didn’t want a conservative in the race.

In CD3, a great conservative Latina patriot was running against the most radical openly-destructive Marxist in Congress, and McGraham didn’t just ignore her campaign – he did everything he could to torpedo her. Guess what? –Raul Grijalva (D-Sonora, MX) got re-elected by a paltry margin. That McGraham – what a guy! -and his whole team has our conservative blood on their dirty hands. A big team player was Baja AZ’s own McGOP Chair Carolyn McCox. Let’s all wave to her as she slinks out of town.

I know Gabby Mercer, and I know of AJ LaFaro, and I thank them effusively for stepping up to this challenge. We desperately need to get some real Republicans back into our state & county GOP offices. We need to save AZ.

    God bless America.
