Gov. Ducey fearing AZ Ferguson throws police under bus

Fear of mob rule causes governor to veto protective measure

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey vetoed legislation Monday aimed at protecting police officers and their families from harassment or worse. Senate Bill 1445, was a reasonable piece of legislation designed to delay law enforcement agencies from releasing the names of officers involved in serious or fatal shootings for 60 days as the investigation into the case proceeded.

Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson was subjected to death threats and forced into hiding, ultimately resigning from the police force following his acquittal on charges relating to the shooting of Michael Brown. The small town became a hotbed of prolonged violent protests based on the “Hands up, don’t shoot” myth.

Critics of the delay, referred to the measure as “hiding” the officers identities, include the dynamic duo of the  Arizona Republic and the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona, which both sent letters to the governor requesting his veto of the measure. This is the editorial view from the hard-left New York Times, which also urged a veto.

Ducey complied, folding like a cheap suit.

The bill allowed the officer’s name to be released if he or she was arrested or formally charged, or gave consent. Supporters of the law contended it would protect officers without compromising the public’s right to know the facts of a case, noting that information about the officer, including any disciplinary record, would, in fact, be released.

The legislation enjoyed bi-partisan support, passing the House by a vote of 44 – 12 and the Senate 23 – 6.

Primary and co-sponsors of the bill can be viewed here. They deserve our thanks. Ducey? He needs to be reminded which side law enforcement is on. They put their lives on the line each and every day to protect the people of Arizona.

Including Doug Ducey.

Facts take a back seat at Arizona Republic

March 30, 2015

State Sen. Sylvia Allen never called for “mandatory church attendance” though the newspaper wishes she had

In another multi-pronged whammy —- at which the political assassins masquerading as journalists have become so adept —- the leftist crew at the Arizona Republic has another conservative in its sights. And once the lie morphs into a pseudo-fact simply by being in print, other sources obligingly pick it up and sprint with it —- among them CNN, the New York Daily News, the Christian Science Monitor, and numerous television outlets.

The actual issue concerns comments made by state Sen. Sylvia Allen (R-LD 6) during a committee hearing on legislation intended to expand the rights of gun owners.

Truth becomes incidental when the message can be manipulated to confound those naive enough to believe the written word, never identified as a wistful comment (Allen referred to it as “flippant”) and never a “mandate” —- when it comes packaged in a newspaper.

“I believe what’s happening to our country is that there is a horrible erosion of the soul of America,” Allen told the state appropriations committee last week. “We are slowly eroding religion at every opportunity that we have. We should probably be debating a bill requiring every American to attend a church of their choice on Sunday to see if we can get back to having a moral rebirth,” she added. She also noted it would never happen.

This bit of nostalgic longing for simpler times opened the door for bona fide liberal EJ Montini to pounce with mocking derision, using his column to sarcastically beseech God to save us all from this fringe loony from Snowflake who he claims wants to impose “mandatory church” attendance —- you know, the senator who serves as President Pro Tempore of the Arizona Senate.

The actual problem with Sen. Allen isn’t her words. It’s her politically conservative bent.

Montini was followed with a vile effort by cartoonist Steve Benson who boorishly mischaracterized Allen as pushing for —- if you answered, “mandatory church attendance,” you win the prize.

The rest of them should get the Joseph Goebbels propagandist award. Adolf Hitler’s Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda was noted for his view of the big lie:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Substitute the word “State” with the propagandists at the Arizona Republic.

USA Today warns of potential for calamity with frail, penetrable, power grid

Conspiracy theories are nothing new. “Wars and Rumors of Wars” date back to warnings in biblical prophecy, and preparedness is simply wise. Peace loving nations maintain military forces for that very reason.

Back in the 1950’s regular folks built bomb shelters in their backyards, stocked them with canned goods, made solemn vows regarding who they wouldn’t be able to let in regardless of kinship, and fervently prayed the Russians would rethink bombing the American heartland. School children were taught how to prepare for an atomic bomb by this “Duck and Cover” film that was shown in classrooms across America. It was advertised as the “official civil defense film, produced in cooperation with the Federal Civil Defense Administration, in consultation with the Safety Commission of the National Education Association.”

Fast forward. In recent times, those originally demeaned as “survivalists,” are now mainstream “preppers” finding kindred spirits at conventions and in popular warehouse clubs that are now stocking emergency freeze-dried and dehydrated food with 25-year shelf life, generators, 55-gallon emergency water barrels, with filtration systems and more. It’s now known as “self reliance.”

And why not? Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross run “preparedness“ ads directing listeners to their websites. They tell us first responders will not be available and it’s up to us to make a family emergency plan. Americans are warned in 13 languages to learn more about specific hazard types, including natural disasters, technological and accidental hazards, and— yes, even  terrorist hazards.”

Such thinking is no longer confined to those previously labeled as conservatives crazies. This past week the left-of-center USA Today ran a front page “Special Report” with a full jump page detailing the vulnerabilities of America’s power grid, how attacks could cripple the country and threaten lives. The bleak picture begins with the immediate problems if such a cyber attack were to occur, through just four days of a power outage hack. Picture no electricity, water, phone service, hospitals, transit at a standstill and stores stripped bare of food. The article advises routinely keeping gas tanks at least half-filled, having hand-cranked emergency radios and at minimum, one gallon of water for each person in the family as well as at least a three-day supply of non-perishable foods.

Back in 2009 we reported on preparation of mass graves at Arizona’s National Memorial Cemetery, something we now know is being replicated across the United States. This video shows the Phoenix cemetery. This is Georgia, They are but two disturbing examples.

In the meantime, get one of those hand-cranked radios, that also run on batteries or solar power. Lay in a supply of batteries, manual can openers, matches, gallon-size sealable plastic bags, peanut butter, canned tuna, soup and plenty of water. Prepare a good first aid kit and make sure you have a supply of necessary medications. Think of toilet paper as a marketable commodity and lay in a good stockpile. You have room.  Store rolls under your beds. They won’t spoil or become devalued like cash.

Just a thought.

Training to terrorize in AZ’s friendly skies? & Update

March 27, 2015

Andreas Lubitz, the homicidal co-pilot of the Germanwings Flight 9525 who by all accounts locked the pilot out of the cockpit before deliberately crashing into the French Alps, murdering all 149 aboard, had an Arizona connection. A spokesman for Lufthansa, the parent company of Germanwings, acknowledged “Every Lufthansa pilot does part of their training in Phoenix, simply because the weather there is so good and conditions are good for flying.”

The flight school training program takes between a year and a half to two years to complete, and includes several months in Arizona flying small training aircraft, as well as simulator and classroom work. The Airline Training Center Arizona, an arm of Lufthansa, has trained the German airline’s pilots for 45 years,  according to its website, which proclaims “Students From Europe To Asia All Train Under The Sunny Skys (sic) Over Metropolitan Phoenix. Perfect Conditions For Learning To Fly.”

The Phoenix area is home to a large number of flight schools, which make good use of our usually clear skies.

The pilot who crashed a hijacked airliner into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, did his flight training in Arizona. The hijackers on American Airlines Flight 77 were led by Hani Hanjour who trained at the CRM Airline Training Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he received an FAA commercial pilot’s certificate. He had previously been rejected for pilot’s training in Saudi Arabia.

In all probability, they have more rigorous psychological testing.

Monday, March 30, 2015:

It is now being revealed by Duesseldorf prosecutors that the mass murdering co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, had received treatment for suicidal tendencies for several years —- before becoming a pilot.

“In the following period, and until recently, further doctor’s visits took place, resulting in sick notes without any suicidal tendencies or aggression against others being recorded.”

Lubitz’ former girlfriend said he was planning a spectacular gesture so “everyone will know my name,” a German daily reported on Saturday. “I didn’t know what he meant by that at the time, but now it’s obvious,” she said. “He did it because he realized that, due to his health problems, his big dream of working at Lufthansa, of a having job as a pilot, and as a pilot on long-distance flights, was nearly impossible.”

“He never talked much about his illness, only that he was in psychiatric treatment,” she told the paper, adding they finally broke up because she was afraid of him.

German authorities have said they had found torn-up sick notes from his doctor showing he had been suffering from an illness that should have grounded him on the day of the tragedy. A chief French investigator raises other questions, after being quoted as saying it was too early to rule out other explanations for the crash.  “There is obviously a scenario that is well known to the media and which we are focusing on,” investigator General Jean-Pierre Michel told French media.

Harry Reid out! Not soaking “up all those resources”

March 27, 2015

Harry Reid, 75, announced today he will not seek re-election to another term, saying he wanted to focus on bringing Democrats back to power in the Senate rather than his own re-election.

Physically and emotionally bruised, the Senate Minority Leader issued this video statement saying it would be “inappropriate for me to soak up all those resources when I could be devoting those resources to the caucus, and that’s what I intend to do.”

The steadfast Obama supporter claimed he sustained facial injuries when an elastic band on a piece of equipment broke while exercising at his home on New Year’s Day. He fell, breaking four ribs and multiple bones near his right eye.

John Kerry: Neville Chamberlain clone puts world at risk & Update

March 26, 2015

Students of history know there is no peace though appeasement

Within days of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei presiding over and agreeing with crowds shouting “Death to America,”  U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is photographed with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. The two men are working to broker a nuclear deal for the despotic and demonic Iranian regime.

The photo is reminiscent of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain meeting with Adolph Hitler. Chamberlain claimed his accord with the Nazi leader would bring “peace in our time,” after signing a non-aggression pact with Germany in 1938.

For a much different take on accommodating enemies of liberty watch this classic video, “A Time for Choosing,” an illuminating speech delivered by Ronald Reagan, October 27, 1964.

 An inspiring excerpt:

‘Admittedly, there’s a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson of history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face—that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight or surrender.”
