Remembering our many blessings, responsibilities this Independence Day

4th of July Washington

….and honoring those 56 brave men who had the vision and strength of character to challenge authority and affix their signatures to the Declaration of Independence.

Before signing the Declaration of Independence, our Founders included this memorable line:

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

Now, 239 years later, we face tyranny from an overreaching federal government and judiciary intent on abolishing our Constitutional rights —- as well as inconceivably weakening our nation’s sovereign border —- in fact, welcoming America’s illegal invaders as a dominant political force.

Our freedom is slipping away as Washington’s intrusive power grows. The principles on which our nation was founded have never been more at risk as the federal government encroaches on our personal health care, increases taxes, oppresses our families with unsustainable national debt, attempts to negotiate rationally with contemptible dictators while gutting our national defense. The Obama administration steadfastly refuses to call Islamic extremism by its name as increasingly gruesome acts are committed by its adherents and recruitment surges.

We American citizens have a moral responsibility to let our voices be heard. This is a contact list of those who ran promising to represent us. We pay their salaries.  Give them a call.

May God continue to bless America.

How tragic it is that on this national holiday celebrating our nation’s founding we are led by a man who ran on the promise of “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” The fact that Obama was elected once was bad enough. His second election stands as a testament to the fact that American students are not taught our history but are spoon fed revisionism by leftwing union teachers in government schools. Too many parents are too busy to notice or even care. We are on the brink of losing our country due to ignorance Listen to the crowd cheer Obama’s alarming words:

Here we are in 2015 under the thumb of a new brand of tyranny, brought to us by the Marxist residing in the White House and out of control justices on the US Supreme Court recently approving same sex “marriage” and upholding the federal overreach into our health care decisions.
Republican appointed justices have too often moved left and joined the liberal bloc which is all too happy to suppress our freedom. Anthony Kennedy has taken over the liberal “swing vote” position of Sandra O’Connor, who conned Ronald Reagan into thinking she was a conservative. Chief Justice John Roberts pulled the same charade on George W. Bush.

When Ronald Reagan needed to fill a slot on the SCOTUS, of course he didn’t do the search and vetting himself. That was turned over to assistants.

Sandra Day O’Connor’s name got on the list (I don’t know how), and vetting her was turned over to a bright young lawyer, who gave her a glowing report. Based on that report, she was chosen as the nominee, and we all know how that worked out. This, despite the fact that she was a very well known and highly vocal abortion & feminist activist in her home state of Arizona.

That bright young lawyer was John Roberts.

      • azgary says:

I did not know that about Roberts.

        very telling, thanks

      • MacBeth says:

I was also unaware of that connection. Thanks for the insight.

The Reagan’s did have a prior social association with Sandra O’Connor and her lawyer husband, John. Nancy Reagan’s mother and neurosurgeon stepfather were friends with the O’Connor’s. The Reagan’s often socialized with them when they came to Arizona to visit Nancy’s folks at their Biltmore Estates home when Ronald Reagan was governor of California.

where do we find men, leaders, like this today, certainly not in our govt or sadly, in our party

  4. Conservative Since Birth says:

‘Americans Who Risked Everything” by Rush Limbaugh’s father is wonderful. I learned a lot from it.

As azgary asks – where do we find people of that caliber today. They’re out there, but we’re so polarized (Obama-caused) that it’s difficult for good men/women to get out there (or want to) without being demonized by the America-hating news media and politicians.
But, we must overcome – just as those 56 brave men did.

    Happy Independence Day.
