Who’da guessed? AZ Republic editors watch Fox News

The reliably leftwing Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) has unexpectedly shown it has the ability to amuse. Tuesday’s editorial denigrating declared presidential candidate Donald Trump is a case in point.

Long known for its open border agenda, the liberal newspaper which refers to everyone and everything it abhors as “controversial,” has now taken its lead from — of all people — GOP establishment strategist, Karl Rove.

In conservative circles, Rove is more than simply controversial. He is an arrogant self-anointed king-maker, hoisting an ever-present slate full of his chicken scratched facts and figures to etch in the minds of those platform Republicans he considers doltish but coachable.

During his Monday appearance with Bill O’Reilly, Jeb! Bush promoting Rove, came prepared to denigrate Donald Trump. Rove’s staff must have been hard at work over the weekend Googling Trump’s past comments on sundry issues, attempting to expose him as being soft on illegals, supportive of Obamacare and cozy with Hillary.

Hilariously (pardon the pun) the newspaper used Rove’s talking points as the framework for its editorial barrage against Trump. Convoluted? You bet. But the fading República is desperate.  Its election recommendations are routinely kicked to the curb.  Statewide and Maricopa County elected offices are held by Republicans. The GOP holds a majority of the state legislative seats. McCain has a compelling challenger and the frustration level with Obama has resulted in an abundance of GOP presidential candidates.

Much to the dismay of the Republic, Trump filled large venues in both Las Vegas and Phoenix on Saturday, with lines snaking around several blocks to gain access to the Phoenix Convention Center, where he was met with rousing cheers, which continued to punctuate his speech. Trump was joined on stage by crowd pleasing Sheriff Joe Arpaio, further inflaming the editorialists. The newspaper clumsily dismissed the ticket carrying crowd of 5,000 as a “preposterous guesstimate” of “angry white people,”  “ripe for demagoguery.” Trump’s message was mocked as “obnoxious caterwauling.”

Let’s be clear. The demagogue is sitting in the Oval Office. Donald Trump is drawing massive crowds for boldly addressing the issue of illegal immigration, which has become a tipping point for many American voters who see their country slipping away. Trump is forcing the issue to prominence. The tin-eared newspaper appears even more foolish than usual as it takes the convoluted route of stealing talking points from the Republican other Republicans view with scorn.

I received an email from the AZ GOP making Donald Trump’s visit sound like something it supported. The bogus establishment leadership who insulted his trip to Phoenix and kept their distance from his appearance, actually link to his website. Now they say, “Arizona is ground zero for many issues which the rest of the nation is paying attention to” and include illegal immigration at the top of the list. AZ Republican chairman Robert (Mc)Graham is as slippery as an eel.

Arizona Legislature Must Pass Ban on Sanctuary Cities

      Posted on July 9, 2015

All of them are sanctuary cities that care more about political correctness than protecting their own citizens, as well as visitors.

San Francisco is only the tip of the iceberg showing the horrific crimes committed by illegal aliens. We’ve got more than our share of illegal alien crime in Arizona as well.

The madness of the political Left has shown its true colors time and time again. It is high time Americans take the necessary steps to bring the rule of law back to cities and outlaw sanctuary status to harbor illegal alien criminals. Either Chandler, Mesa, Phoenix and Tucson can restore the rule of law, or the state can do it for them.

We challenge the Arizona Legislature to call a special session at once to pass a ban on sanctuary cities. We challenge Gov. Doug Ducey to sign the ban into law.

      • ZOO says:

One way to begin de-sanctuary proceedings in Phoenix is to remove maniac Greg Stanton from the mayor’s office. Prior to Donald Trump’s speech in Phoenix, Stanton referred to him as “ignorant, deplorable and racist.”

Phoenix has the 11th highest sales tax in the country. Stanton wants to add $31.5 billion to it by tripling the size of the light rail aka the Phoenix transient system – also on the ballot (Prop 104).

The election is August 25th, early voting begins July 30th. Anna Brennan is running for the office and appears to be a fiscal conservative. She opposes the light rail expansion.

phoenix ever again having a republican mayor is doubtful, though the chance would be greater if sanctuary city status was criminalized and denied all funding by state coffers.

but the azgop will never allow it even though it condemns them to never again electing a “republican” mayor there

SRAZ: I totally enjoyed everything about the above, especially the many photos of the person I love to despise, Karl Rove, with his silly white board. I have despised him from the day he and G.W. Bush stood outside somewhere and sneered and laughed while Bush said “see ya at the signing.” That was in reference to a new immigration law – which never happened, it was so reviled.

He was so wrong about the 2012 election and I don’t understand why Fox kept him on with a lucrative contract of $4 million, some say, when Dick Morris was unceremoniously dumped. He loves the high life – traveling on private jets to Tuscany with wealthy donors like Las Vegas casino owner, Steve Wynn. It was able to make him ‘attractive’ to women as he is presently on his third wife.

I’m sure Donald Trump, like Sarah Palin did, is making Rove c-r-a-z-y. He also has disdain for Ted Cruz.

Another good post, Seeing Red! It’s important to expose the phonies within our own camp. Unfortunately there are far too many of them. That’s the great appeal they have for the Arizona Repugnant newspaper.

Thomas Jefferson said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” He was referring to outside enemies. Too often we grow our own.

HEY!!! I got a Great Idea! Let’s give th’ islamo-nazis a thingy that goes KA-B-O-O-M, & makes a Big Mushroom Cloud afterwards…THEN, we won’t give a rip if there’s illegal aliens crossing our boarder ‘cuz we’ll all be irradiated/cooked!!!
…(facepalm here…) Either way, as usual, GREAT POST, SRAZ! By th’ way, all th’ media schmucks are making issue of how many people attended Trump’s event. Why? NOBODY’S covering what he said, & I get that part, but can we all agree that he spoke to a “Packed-House”?

  4. Rose says:

Karl Rove said last week the we need someone to keep the Party united and Trump was not the man to do it. What world does Mr. Rove live in? He needs to be reminded that we are not united and that none of the people he’s ever put forward has united us.

  5. Orion says:

It’s no surprise the AZ Repukelic would use Karl Rove’s talking points. They are both integral to the open borders / amnesty scheme proffered by the previous Bushes, Papa and Dubya, who Rove previously shilled for. With Jeb there is the added bonus of having a Mexican born First Lady who still prefers speaking Spanish with Jeb and watching Spanish language ‘soaps’ on TV. Think of it. This is a match made in heaven. We have the opportunity for another ‘historic” election. First, Barack Hussein Obama with his Muslim family roots and Kenyan father, and now a thieving historic Hispanic.

Columba Bush, on one of her numerous extravagant Parisian shopping sprees, “forgot” to declare the $19 thousand worth of clothing and jewelry she purchased. She was fined $4,100 for her deceit. Then-Gov. Jeb Bush even admitted his wife “misled” U.S. Customs officials.

That misadventure didn’t prevent the multimillionairess from indulging in more high style purchases. Less than a year later, she took out a LOAN to buy $42,311.70 worth of jewelry in a single day, according to records filed with the state of Florida by Mayors Jewelers. (see the linked WaPo news repport).

That purchase was part of a pattern by Columba Bush of borrowing to buy tens of thousands of dollars of jewelry at a time from the South Florida store over a 14-year period. Documentation available online, which does not include the details of two transactions made less than six weeks apart in 1995, shows that she spent a total of more than $90,000 at the jewelry store.

  6. Conservative Since Birth says:

Karl Rove said way back when Jeb! was ‘thinking’ about running – that he was the “smartest” of those running. So, pay attention if Mr. Rove has to critique Scott Walker and mentions that he’s not a college graduate. Here’s Rove’s college info:

    Alma mater
University of Utah (did not graduate)
University of Texas-Austin (did not graduate)
University of Maryland, College Park (did not graduate)
George Mason University (did not graduate)

And he got to the White House.

EXCLUSIVE: Levin Unleashes On McCain Iran Vote – He Voted To ‘Surrender Power To Obama’

WASHINGTON — Conservative radio host Mark Levin unleashed on Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain Wednesday, after The Daily Caller told him McCain claimed the Senate had no ability to advice and consent on the nuclear deal the Obama administration made with Iran.

Sponsored in April by chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Tennessee Senator Bob Corker and Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 came under scrutiny by conservatives, like National Review’s Andrew McCarthy, who say that such an international agreement is not binding because the Constitution requires that Congress approve it by one of two ways—either by supermajority approval by two-thirds of the Senate or enactment through the legislative process.

The Corker bill provided a process for neither but received an overwhelming majority of support from Senate Republicans. As a result of the passage of the bill, President Obama would no longer need a 2/3 super majority approval from the Senate to ratify the Iran deal.

Sen. McCain defended his vote for the Corker bill telling The Daily Caller Wednesday. “That’s the only thing that they could pass. This is the only way you could pass anything because the Democrats weren’t going to agree to anything else,” he said.

you party stalwarts disgust me, you are destroying our nation just because you want to choose sides, when neither team has our survival at heart

    • Doc says:

Toldja’ Mark Levin was/is…DA’ MAN!!! He’s right! For mcTraitor to say, “It’s an ‘agreement’, not a ‘treaty’, is Absolute BOOLSHEET!!! But we here @ SRAZ already knew that. I’m not a lawyer or a legislator. But it seems to me that this iran nuke deal is giving aid & comfort to the enemy, & therefore, treason. I know there are far more knowlegable people here that can correct me if I’m wrong, but if I’m correct in my assessment, then not only is the annoying one guilty of this, but so is ANY LEGISLATOR who voted/votes in favor of it, or has assisted in any way in proliferating this insane “deal” with th’ NUMBER ONE state sponsor of global terrorism. Giving in to these mullahs, & allowing them to have ANYTHING other than air (we can’t control that, unfortunately) much less the authority to play around with radioactive isotopes, conventional weapons, & $150,000,000,000.00 is….insanity.
