Breitbart News carries an intriguing report on the less-than-devout Catholic Democrats in the U.S. Congress who are now looking to Pope Francis for aid in expanding their political base by increasing illegal immigration.
In a first, the Pope is scheduled to address Congress on Sept. 24. He intends to follow that by meeting with a group of Hispanic illegals. Liberal lawmakers hope his advocacy will inspire their colleagues and constituents.
Last year, Francis called the calculated flood of Central American children crossing the border into the U.S. a “humanitarian emergency.” In a June encyclical where he delved into the issue of climate change using the left‘s talking points, Francis cited the “tragic rise” of immigrants fleeing poverty.
The Pope is clearly opposed to capitalism. Earlier this year, using his closest adviser Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, as his spokesman, he issued this statement: “The ideology surrounding environmental issues is too tied to a capitalism that doesn’t want to stop ruining the environment because they don’t want to give up their profits.”
In May we posted Pope Francis embraces leftist doctrines, in which we noted Francis sounded a lot like Karl Marx, as he called on governments to redistribute wealth and benefits to the poor to help curb an “economy of exclusion.” That was followed by Pope Francis: “Global Political Authority” needed to tackle climate change. His provocative mastery of Marxist, anti-capitalist buzzwords is disturbing, with redistribution of wealth one of his frequent themes. Yet he does not deny himself the latest technology as he travels the globe like a jetsetter, frequently tweets and even takes selfies. Last year his tweet, “inequality is the root of social evil,” set off a heated debate in which he was criticized for increasingly driving a wedge between conservatives and the Catholic Church. Francis previously blasted ‘trickle-down’ economics, a basic tenet of President Reagan’s economic policy as a “crude and naive” theory.
Francis clearly relishes promoting radical political positions. The Blaze reported Vatican Officially Recognizes ‘State of Palestine’ in New Treaty, observing he shifted to referring to PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas as the president of the “state of Palestine,” giving authenticity to those who are sworn to the annihilation of Israel.
The Institute for Works of Religion, often referred to as the ‘Vatican Bank’ manages $8 billion of the church’s worldwide wealth, and investments, as well as 33,000 accounts for clergy and parishes, held in Euros. This is in addition to priceless High Renaissance art collections on display as well as in vast underground storage facilities.
Pope Francis has written, “Migrants and refugees are not pawns on the chessboard of humanity and should be accorded ‘their human dignity’ in the countries where they reside.”
Kevin Appleby, policy director on migration for the pro-amnesty U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C., said: “What we do know from his record is that it’s an issue close to his heart” and “one of the issues central to his papacy.”
Rather than lecturing the United States, the time is ripe for this political Pope to put his mouth where his money is on his central issue and swing open the doors of Vatican City to accommodate and respect the “human dignity” of the hundreds of thousands of impoverished, uneducated and unwilling to assimilate, North African Muslims fleeing Libya in an effort to reach Italy. Their plight should also qualify as a “humanitarian emergency” demanding immediate action.
