AZ Republic aims for Arpaio, misses the target

Popular sheriff takes repeated carping in his stride

Campaign season is often derisively referred to as the silly season. It might more accurately be described as the endless night of the long knives. We are more than a full year away from the 2016 elections, but reading the pro-open borders Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) would lead an otherwise rational person to conclude the elections were upon us. A reader of the newsosaur could also be forgiven for thinking Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was the devil incarnate rather than a professional lawman who has been returned to office by the voters of America’s fourth most populous county to an unprecedented six 4-year terms.

Arpaio’s stellar credentials and years of military and police service to our country — including an extraordinary worldwide federal career with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and ultimately as head of the DEA for Arizona — fail to impress the liberals at the newspaper.  So much so, in fact, they labor tirelessly attempting to take him out, obviously missing the fact that subscriptions continue to decline and the majority of political endorsements fail.

Sunday’s edition exemplifies the lengths to which they will go in their fruitless efforts. A wordy but contrived report became front-page material to the failing newspaper. Since its content is slim to non-existent, a full three-quarters of the page was devoted to Joe Arpaio’s head and shoulder image. The inside jump-page in this first of an eight-part series, is wishfully titled, “Arpaio: Is his time up?”

Proof of the delusional thinking at the struggling daily is the bold header stating, “Many in his own party think it’s time for him to leave.” Who are the go-to Republicrat sources to substantiate the claim? Establishment Paul Charlton, fired as U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, and two consistently Democrat endorsing former office holders, Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley and Attorney General Grant Woods, once chief of staff to John McCain. Buffoonish Woods has never made good on his repeated threat to switch political parties, which would be a more authentic representation of his political bent.

As we stated in Quartet of rancorous “formers” pile on Arpaio, posted in April 2012, once again, duplicity reigns supreme at the Arizona Republic.

In order to facilitate reading this slop, we gift our readers with,” A Primer: How to decipher Republicese,” which includes a link to the still relevant and popular, “Lingo,”first posted in 2008.

Joe Arpaio can count on the votes in our household for as long as he continues to run. He obviously represents the people of Maricopa County well. We keep returning him to office despite the relentless efforts of the left to unseat him and the courts to tie his hands.

Who reads the Republic? When I go for my early morning jog, I see very few in driveways, where they were previously more prevalent.
It’s mainly a few senior citizens who still take the paper. In spite of the newspaper’s efforts to switch its declining readership to digital, we have better sources for news. When these readers are gone, the paper will be as well. I read it occasionally at the office and it’s mainly an entertainment review (movies, restaurants, things to do) and inane celebrity blather.

Our applause doesn’t get the job done. THIS will. Do what you can.

It’s an ongoing hatchet job, continuing today and tomorrow, according to my 82 year old neighbor who loves Joe and hates the newspaper he calls the Repulsive. He and his wife do the crossword puzzles in the rag. I told him he could buy crossword books much cheaper and they won’t raise his blood pressure!

  5. Clementine says:

The thugs at the newspaper are muggers, not reporters and certainly not journalists Sheriff Joe doesn’t play into their kumbaya amnesty agenda, so he becomes disposable. But it’s the people, not the newspaper, who vote, and he will be reelected by those of us who respect him and admire his determination in the face of liberal judges and this left wing press.

  6. Conservative Since Birth says:

In this horrific time of police killings by Black Lives Matter racist police haters and other crazy people, Sheriff Joe is the one to be at the top during times like this. He has our back and certainly those of his Sheriff deputies. He’s head and shoulders above the PC Sheriff in San Francisco who takes the side of criminals. Maricopa County is fortunate to have Sheriff Arpaio. I give him credit for all the flak he consistently takes from the Left. We vote for him and contribute to his campaign and legal fund.

A Kentucky state trooper was killed today and it’s been confirmed the killer was a revolutionary in Black Lives Matter who took part in the Michael Brown burning and looting. It’s a dangerous time and Obama just lets it happen. What are we to make of that? Rhetorical question.

TUCSON, I DON’T GET THE RED STAR (WHAT WE REFER TO THE AZ DAILY STAR BECAUSE OF ITS LEFTIST LEANINGS) – INSTEAD, I OPTED TO GET THE AZ REPUBLIC WHICH IS (SLIGHTLY) BETTER BUT IS STILL NOT OBJECTIVE AND IS BIASED! THIS ARTICLE YOU MENTION BELOW MADE ME ANGRY, ALSO. YOU SHOULD ASK EVERYONE TO GOOGLE “AZ REPUBLIC & LETTER TO THE EDITOR” AND WRITE THAT WE ARE THINKING OF CANCELING OUR SUBSCRIPTIONS WITH THEIR PAPER IF THEY DON’T STOP BEING SO BIASED AND HATEFUL AGAINST JOE (PLUS OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT LEFTIST, LIBERAL DEMS.) (IF YOU WISH TO ADD THAT PART!). LAURA – I AM GOING TO WRITE THEM NOW AND SAY I AM THINKING OF CANCELLING MY SUBSCRIPTION WITH THEM.

    • Night Owl says:

Wow, Laura…the fact that you are THINKING of cancelling your subscription will no doubt scare the pants off the leftist editorial board at the Arizona Repugnant newspaper. That’s quite a hammer you wield.

  8. LEO IN TSN says:

Sheriff Joe is a great sheriff with tons of loyal citizen supporters. HOWEVER, don’t just assume that good feelings will keep him in office. ACORN is alive and well in AZ, and vote fraud is a reality.

    https://seeingredaz.wordpress.com/2014/10/28/democrats-engage-in-voter-fraud-ballot-harvesting/

Since Sheriff Joe seems to be the only real sheriff we have in AZ, I encourage ALL AZonans to $upport him and talk him up. Get your friends and neighbors registered to vote, and let’s get the real legal ballots counted in every AZ county.

    God bless America.

  9. Standing Tall says:

Joe Arpaio’s time thankfully isn’t “up,’ but the AZ Republic days are closing in. It has long ago outlived it’s usefulness and its student reporters are pathetic.

  10. Saguaro Sam says:

    Sheriff Joe Needs Our Help.

If I am not mistaken, he is responsible for paying his legal fees—-
which is probably the reason that the DOJ keeps filing phony cases.
And the 9th Circus Court of Appeals does their usual betrayal of law enforcement.
