Boehner stuns with resignation announcement

Conservatives will not be saddened by the news that Speaker of the House John Boehner is stepping down. The 13-term Ohio Republican has been ineffectual in his leadership role.

Most recently, his inability to stop the Iran deal from going through or defund Planned Parenthood has placed the often tearful Ohio congressman at odds with many in the Republican Party.  His unexpected announcement is not a retirement but a resignation.

The New York Times broke the news of the announcement that Boehner is stepping down at the end of October. This comes a day after he was successful in getting the pope to address congress, something he has strived to do for twenty years.

Lets not get too excited until we see who is his replacement.

  2. MacBeth says:

Boehner can surely find employment providing tears on tv soap operas. I’m certainly not sorry to see him go. He never should have been reelected as Speaker. Check out who he’s trying to kiss here:

South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy would be my hands down pick. The guy is brilliant! Probably too brilliant to want the Speaker’s post.

He, like all public sector employees, will receive a very nice pension w/ COLA and benefits we pay for.

  7. Kathy says:

Sadly Boehner is not leaving NOW – he will make sure he does as much damage as possible, such as funding PP, growing govt & spending, pushing Obama’s continued destruction agenda, attacking Conservatives (since we smell like garbage as he stated), etc. McCarthy is Boehner mini-me – notice the establishment loves him – beware!

Goodbye to the weeping spineless, worst Speaker in my lifetime. I asked my REP how many more wars do we need to lose to Obama. I like the Rep from NC – who got the ball rolling on this…a true Conservative.

I’m on the coast of Maine, but wanted to chime in with my 2 cents to my favorite website.

Thanks, Conservative Since Birth. Your comments go a long way in bringing thoughtful discussions to this site.

We hope you’re just vacationing and haven’t moved. Are the leaves in Maine changing yet?

      • Conservative Since Birth says:

SRAZ: Just vacationing. Back in AZ next week. Traveled throughout New England, saw some “Bernie” bumper stickers on Subaru’s. (the new Prius) in Vt. Maine has a good governor. Govt placed Somali ‘refugees’ here.

Leaves are just starting to change. It’s been warmer than usual, so in another week or so, it will be “leaf peeping” time.

        Have a nice weekend!

Harry Reid will, of course, miss John Boehner. John McCain is also “sad,” saying he had deep affection for Boehner. These are a couple of reasons I’m glad to see him resign!!
