“Merry Christmas!” scores big win for Spencers

SpencersChristmas

Remember when those words didn’t stand out as unique?

Store clerks greet us with “Happy Holidays,” so as not to offend. We live in a diverse society, don’cha know? After all, the word Christmas is so very….Christian.  School plays now celebrate winter and beloved carols have been replaced by sanitized renditions of “Frosty the Snowman.”

But one Valley store is proudly bucking that inane trend. Spencer’s TV and Appliance, whose slogan is, “It’s like having a friend in the business,” uses the top of its full page newspaper ad to proudly declare, “It’s OK to say Merry Christmas at Spencers.”

With numerous locations across the Valley you’re sure to find what you’re looking for nearby. They carry quality merchandise, provide exceptional service and carry a pledge to beat the price of any competitor. In addition, they don’t cower behind a veil of political correctness.

Check Spencers out for your holiday shopping. According to their ad, their newest store also features a complete audio department with full installation services.

And while you’re there, be sure to wish the Spencers’ employees a “Merry Christmas!” The nice part is, they’ll respond in kind.

Thanks SRAZ for giving accolades to Spencer’s for its handling of Christmas. I’ve shopped there over the years and the store where I’ve made my purchases has always been top notch to deal with.

This My Turn column in the newspaper is all too indicative of the idiocy that now has taken over. A parent writes, “My daughter is being forced to celebrate a blatant farce at her Flagstaff elementary school.”

I’m not kidding! This farce of Festivus actually originated on a Seinfeld episode.

Bravo to Spencers!! We’ll be giving them our business—with pleasure!
My brothers put me in charge of finding our folks a flat screen TV for Christmas. Guess where we’ll be making our purchase? This makes it easy!

This is great news to hear about Spencer’s. Glad we gave them some business a while back with a new LG refrigerator. It was a nice, easy transaction. They called a day or two later to see how we liked it.

At Nordstrom the other day, a saleswoman said to a customer “Happy Holiday” and the customer said “Merry Christmas” and the saleswoman said “Merry Christmas.” It’s up to us to continue the tradition of Merry Christmas. I give Nordstrom some credit for closing down tight for Thanksgiving and giving their employees time with their families.

A cashier at my bank wished me “Happy Holidays” and I replied with “Merry Christmas.” She told me they are instructed to say “Happy Holidays.” That’s what it’s come to these days. Businesses are so worried about offending vocal minorities that they are willing to offend the often silent majority. I can’t be silenced and will always say Merry Christmas.

Forgot to mention my thanks to Spencer’s TV and Appliance for their stand.

  6. Saguaro Sam says:

Outside a grocery store yesterday was a lady tending a Salvation Army Red Kettle. I noticed that most people, going into the store and coming out of the store, were ignoring the tinkling of the little bell.

I said to her, as I dropped a few dollars into the kettle, ‘thank you for being here’. She said that it was her honor and then said “God bless you”.

And my day was made better by those few words.

May God continue to show us HIs Mercy.

  7. LEO IN TSN says:

I went to the U.S. Post Office yesterday, and bought some Christmas Madonna stamps. Did I mention this was the subsidized arm of the federal gov’t of this great Christian nation? As the transaction concluded, I wished the postal clerk a “Merry Christmas.” She froze like a deer in the headlights, and responded with a hushed “Same to you.”

What have we come to, where good people live in fear of wordspeak?

Merry Christmas to all. God bless this great Christian nation of the United States of America.

    sent this into Drudge.

yeah I know it wont get picked up, but it would sure be nice if it did, and nothing is impossible.

Good on Spencers, I bought a house in 2006 and bought ALL my appliances there and they are still running Strong.

Merry early Christmas to all particularly Spencers!

      azgary,
We appreciate you sending our post to Drudge. It’s our hope that Christmas shoppers will take time to acquaint themselves with a store that isn’t fearful of observing the holiday as Americans always have. “Merry Christmas!” is a cheerful greeting that can’t be construed as offensive to any other religion.
