McCain’s former adviser also a Hillary supporter

During John McCain’s lackluster 2008 shuffle for the presidency — throughout which he spent more time defending Barack Obama than offering a viable alternative Republicans could rally behind — we opined that he probably cast his own ballot for Obama from the confines of wife Cindy’s luxurious penthouse.

Now it’s being reported that Mark Salter, McCain’s longtime political adviser, is a Hillary Clinton enthusiast, saying, “I‘m with her.”  No surprise there.  His former boss McCain previously called Hillary “a rock star” he could support.

As we reported in July 2013,  McCain meets regularly with Barack Obama and his top advisers and has even expressed concern over helping the second term president in the legacy department. According to McCain, “The president of the United States, like all presidents in their second terms, looks at their legacy. And there are areas that we have worked on.”

Long known for forging alliances with the most liberal of Democrats, committed amnesty supporter McCain is more of a polarizing figure than ever, which was clearly evidenced by his near inability to carry his home state during his failed presidential bid. He managed a weak 8.9% margin of victory and lost four of Arizona’s fifteen counties to Obama. After over three decades in the senate, the gaffe-prone John McCain is actually running again —- for another 6-year senate term at age 80.

You won’t get this slipperiness from challenger Dr. Kelli Ward, a two-term former state senator with a conservative track record.  Her Issues page addresses the concerns of Arizona voters, as she says, “It’s time to shake up Washington.”  Send her a few bucks to help her get her message out. She’s married to a military man. John McCain doesn’t even have an accurate count on how many homes he and his beer heiress wife Cindy own — clearly not a problem most Arizona voters deal with.

The question to ask: Is McCain strategist Mark Salter following his client John McCain, or is John McCain, who has few original thoughts and has always veered left, following his adviser? Either way Americans get screwed. Hillary is a proven liar who should be prosecuted, but McCain’s pal Obama will never do that, since she represents his third term.

    Mark Salter: McCain’s Closest Aide

“Salter’s entire life itself is McCaincentric.” McCain, being around D.C. as long as he has keeps people like Salter in jobs. Not unlike Michael Jackson/Elvis Presley hangers on.

It would be difficult to imagine anyone following brain dead McCain. Slater must have advised him at some point that Hillary was a “rock star.”

  4. Arizona Conservative Guy says:

Kelli Ward is bright, knowledgeable on the issues and accessible. McCain possesses none of those qualities. He and Jeff Flake hold invitation only, closed door “town halls” with hand picked attendees. They don’t want to talk to us. Flake has actually said the beauty of a six year senate term is that voters have short memories. If he paid attention, he’d remember that the symbol of the Republican Party is the elephant, which never forgets.

This is where McCain gets his screwy ideas. If it weren’t for guys like this, McCain would have NO ideas.

Worth many millions, he’s sending fundraising letters begging campaign contributions from elderly Arizonans. Perhaps greedy John McCain hopes we don’t remember he was the only Republican in the “Keating 5” who conspired to help Charlie Keating avoid for two years Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB) investigations into Keating’s Lincoln Savings & Loan while it was stealing life savings from retired Arizonans.

Some Arizonans do remember how many retired people from Green Valley and Sun City in 1987 and 1988 were unsophisticated and easy marks for Keating, who talked about his DC Senator friends, McCain, DeConcini, Cranston, Riegle and Glenn while selling millions in “Government Insured” junk bonds. We remember the sorrow and hopelessness of elderly friends who discovered there was no Government Insurance on Keating’s bonds… and when they realized their life savings were gone. (3) (4)

Keating’s book, “Trust Me” (1) explains how Charles Keating bought John McCain. In the early 80s Keating donated $112,000 to McCain’s campaigns and hosted $1000-a-plate fund raisers for him. For years Keating flew McCain around in private jets and on vacations to Keating’s Cat Cay Bahama Island. In 1986 Charles Keating arranged a $359,100 Fountain Square Mall “deal” for the McCains that produced a fat yearly income. In return for all the money, travel and favors, John McCain delayed FHLBB regulators for years as Keating’s Lincoln Savings & Loan stole the Life savings of many of McCain’s trusting Sun City and Green Valley constituents. McCain testified he was only helping a constituent, but it’s very revealing that this US Senator did not file lawfully required Financial Disclosure Statements or attempt any reimbursement for gifts and money from Keating until Keating was arrested for Fraud. Of course, McCain did not disclose the $359,100 Fountain Square Mall “deal”. More importantly, the Government Resolution Trust Corporation somehow “overlooked” the Fountain Square mall during Court settlements after Charles Keating’s conviction. Most importantly, only a few of McCain’s Arizona Republican Constituents knew when the McCains sold (the Keating) Fountain Square mall for 15 million dollars in 1998. (2)

The impossible dream is that the McCain family owes those (mostly deceased) couples from Green Valley and Sun City millions of dollars and a better ending. But can anyone explain the tasteless greed and colossal nerve as Senator John McCain now attempts to raise more money from more Arizonans? Please research all this information and remind as many Republican Primary voters as possible of John McCain’s Greed.

Less than 100 days til the Primary; Kelli Ward is a breath of fresh air.
