NRA goes to bat for Trump, hits Hillary in her Benghazi

The National Rifle Association has released it’s first pro-Trump ad of the 2016 election cycle. The powerful ad features Mark “Oz” Geist, a Marine Corps veteran who provided security services in Benghazi, Libya.

“A lot of people say they’re not going to vote this November because their candidate didn’t win,” Geist begins as he strolls through a military cemetery. “Well, I know some other people who won’t be voting this year either. Hillary as President? No thanks.

I served in Benghazi. My friends didn’t make it. They did their part. Do yours.”

In this 2015 interview with Ammoland, Donald Trump made his views clear as he talked politics and guns, beginning with this statement:

“I am a Life Member of the NRA and am proud of their service in protecting our right to keep and bear arms. The NRA’s efforts to stop dangerous, gun-banning legislation and regulation is invaluable. The media focus on those efforts overshadows the great work the NRA does on behalf of safety and conservation.”

Awesome ad – clear, precise, TRUTH.

  2. Dennis O'Brien says:

The descriptive word “powerful” is used in this post in reference to the ad. I couldn’t come up with anything more appropriate. Great ad. I also like the headline!

There’s no disputing the NRA does some fine work as evidenced here. But it also runs off the boards as when John McCain was honored as keynote speaker when the NRA held its convention in Phoenix a few years back. I was a lifetime member and tore up my card that day and joined Gun Owners of America. Before making that difficult switch (since my dad bought me my lifetime membership twenty plus years before) I called the NRA office in Virginia and asked why they would honor McCain who has been relentless in trying to close what he erroneously describes as “gun show loopholes.” I was told all of the people who could answer my question were in Phoenix attending the convention.

Since the Second Amendment is a passion of mine, I bookmarked and saved this SRAZ post from 2010.

In 2001, the late Helen Thomas, a huge liberal wrote this article commending McCain.
“Hats off to John McCain effort to close gun-show loophole.”

Today I visited the NRA’s Political Victory Fund site and was disappointed to see that only Georgia and Minnesota are listed as states to watch in 2016.

Have they forgotten about Arizona? We are in desperate need to rid ourselves of the ancient RINO John McCain. Dr. Kelli Ward is a rural county physician, conservative former state senator and military wife whose husband is the flight surgeon for the AZ National Guard. She well understands and protects our Second Amendment freedoms. Dr. Ward is challenging McCain. Where is the NRA in this crucial race? Do they think McCain is a friend of gun rights? He’s 80 years old and is running for reelection to a six year term. He was censured by Arizona’s elected party leaders. Show some spine, NRA. Endorse Dr. Ward and I’ll buy my two sons and daughter all Lifetime memberships as my dad did for me. Hell, I’ll gladly rejoin.

Received this in the mail this week from Gun Owner’s of America

      They are doing God’s work.

      CAN MC CAIN BE DEFEATED?

Taking on a 30-year incumbent like John McCain is no easy task, but Dr. Ward is gaining on him in the polls. According to Public Policy Polling:

McCain is polling at only 39% in the Republican primary field. He’s benefiting from having multiple opponents. Kelli Ward is at 26%, Alex Meluskey at 4%, Scott McBean at 3%, and Clair Van Steenwyk at 2%. 27% are undecided.

When you narrow the field down to just a choice between McCain and Ward, it’s a tie at 41%. Ward is polling this competitively at this point despite having only 41% name recognition.

It’s no surprise that pro-gunners are upset with McCain. After all, he supported the Toomey-Manchin amendment to ban private sales of firearms.

McCain supported banning inexpensive handguns, so-called Saturday Night Specials, and he pushed for a law requiring gun owners to “lock up their safety.”

John McCain also tried to forbid groups like GOA from even talking about his anti-gun record within months of voters going to the polls.

Dr. Kelli Ward is within striking distance of taking out McCain in the primary–particularly if other candidates begin to drop out of the race.

Kelli Ward supports repealing gun free zones, which only make criminals safer.

She supports your right to carry a firearm concealed for your own protection, without first having to prove to the government that you’re not a criminal.

Gun Owners of America is active in these and other races around the country. We select only the best candidates who will walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Your contribution to GOA will go directly toward helping elect only the best candidates in 2016. Go here to chip in $20 or more.

As a State Senator, Kelli Ward earned an A+ rating for her strong defense of the Second Amendment.

Now she can take the fight to Washington, D.C.

John McCain has been in the U.S. Senate for thirty years. The time for change is now–this year, in this Republican primary election.

If we want to see real change in Washington, we have to get behind Second Amendment champions like Kelli Ward, who has already shown a willingness to take on the “big government Republicans” like McCain.

Just imagine the message we will send to Washington by defeating one of the anti-gunners’ favorite Republicans.

      Sincerely,

      Tim Macy
      Chairman

P.S. We had strong wins in Colorado and Oklahoma on Tuesday, and we’re looking forward to victory in Arizona in August.

You can help GOA elect the most pro-gun candidates in the country by going here and making a generous contribution of $20 or more.

Paid for by Gun Owners of America. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

(The NRA had to be stopped in 2010 from endorsing that lowlife Harry Reid.)

      • Braveheart says:

Thanks for this, CSB! You made my day! All of us who care about preserving our Constitutional Rights should join GOA.

This issue is more crucial now than ever before. And it’s not just John McAwful. We also have Jeff Flake siding with the most liberal Democrats to further constrict our rights. This is serious business regarding the future of the USA. Pay attention and vote accordingly. Sen.Smirk McFlake will be up for election in 2018. We need to get rid of him before he becomes deeply entrenched like his mentor McCain.

Love the ad. I am a long time NRA member but stopped contributing when they supported McCain. I am now a member of both the NRA and the GOA

  5. Saguaro Sam says:

    McCain must really be worried.
He now has the #NeverTrump elitists floating the idea that he be nominated at the RNC. Yep, Bill Kristol working his black magic, still.
But wait—-Romney saying today that he might try to steal the nomination for himself, because all of his family wants him to run.
    What? All 8 of them?

Meanwhile, as Obama held hands (really) with the wife of the Canadian PM yesterday, the Canadian Parliaments members shouted “FOUR MORE YEARS, FOUR MORE YEARS. . . . .”

Go ahead Canadian leftists. You can have him. And all of Congress, too.

  6. State Delegate says:

THIS is the Gun Owners of America ad exposing John McCain. Please take a minute and listen to it. It’s the proverbial “Breath of Fresh Air” we’ve often heard about and rarely have a chance to inhale.

I am proud to say I was among the many who voted for McCain’s censure I would proudly have done so again this past January, but Republicrat state chairman Robert (Mc)Graham pulled a fast one to keep the embarrassment level at bay.
