This time we’re characterized as frightened white supremacists — no mention of our need for guns and bibles
What does Hillary Clinton really think of Trump supporters? According to this Bloomberg report, the answer obviously is not much. Since conservatives will never march in lockstep with the left, Clinton recklessly views us as “a basket of deplorables” made up of “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic….you name it” people.
Clinton was speaking at an LGBT fundraiser in New York City Friday evening, where she encouraged supporters to “stage an intervention” if they have friends considering voting for Donald Trump.
Tickets for the gala, which focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender supporters, ranged from $1,200 for a standard seat to $250,000 or more to be listed as a host. The fundraiser drew a sold-out crowd of 1,000. Barbra Streisand, a favorite of drag queen performers, provided the entertainment — including a sarcastic rendition of “Send in the Clowns” aimed at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
After receiving blow back for Hillary’s outrageous comments, the Clinton campaign attempted to clarify her “basket of deplorables” remark, saying she was referring to people who actively back Trump, such as donors, endorsers and people at his rallies, not everyone who plans to vote for the Republican businessman.
The feeble attempt to separate average Trump voters from what Hillary and her advisers view as those who align themselves with the white nationalist “alt-right” movement they claim “appears to make up half of his crowd when you observe the tone of his events,”Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said on Twitter.
This hateful new tone, an obvious attempt to deflect from her myriad scandals and questions regarding her health, is a far cry from Hillary‘s 2008 retort when running against Barack Obama. At the time she said, “I was taken aback by the demeaning remarks Sen. Obama made about people in small-town America. His remarks are elitist and out of touch.”
Referring to working-class voters in industrial towns decimated by job losses, Obama described them with these words: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
It doesn’t matter which Democrat elitist utters the words, the raw contempt they exhibit for thinking American voters couldn’t be clearer. We are either pathetically clinging to our guns or bibles, or we are vicious hate mongers.
