Weekend reading guaranteed to make you smarter

As we enter this Thanksgiving week, we’d like to give thanks for the wisdom and wit of Dr. Thomas Sowell, still writing splendidly and imparting his own special brand of insight in his 86th year.

This post is not a break from politics — few among us actually yearn for that as we still revel in the recent election results and now await President-elect Donald Trump’s full cabinet appointments and inauguration. Americans spoke decisively with the 2016 election of the Donald Trump / Mike Pence ticket and Republican majorities in the U.S. House and Senate — having had their fill of “Hope and Change” that was mostly played out on golf courses and a world-wide apology tour.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to readWhat now for Obamacare and the Court?

Dr. Sowell’s column was posted in the New Hampshire Union Leader.  The far-left Arizona Republic no longer has an op-ed page. The newspaper only prints ops. Its own. Opinions that are liberally flavored with its favorite seasonings of open borders salsa and far-left extremism, as they routinely endorse George Soros funded candidates, as evidenced here and here.

Another fact filled post, SRAZ! And I thought it was just going to be suggested reading….Great links, as usual. I learn a lot here. Thanks for keeping me up to speed.

O/T but interesting az news, too bad obama will just release any captures so they can kill, rape and rob American citizens, or at the very least overburden our infrastructure and tax dollars while b**tching about how horrible America is and voting illegally:

Armed Citizens Patrol US Border with Mexico – Await Trump Wall of Protection

Armed US citizens with the Arizona Border Recon stages reconnaissance and surveillance operations against drug and human smuggling operations on the US border with Mexico.

The group is made up of mostly former US military servicemen and women.

The group is protecting America from illegal invaders and drug cartels.

The armed group, made up mostly of former U.S. military servicemen and women, stages reconnaissance and surveillance operations against drug and human smuggling operations in remote border areas.

The group, which claims up to 200 volunteers, does not consider itself a militia, but rather a group of citizens supplementing U.S. Border Patrol efforts to control illegal border activity.

Thanks to SRAZ for the link to Dr. Sowell’s column.

Dr. Sowell believes that Ted Cruz would be a great choice for SCOTUS. I’m not so sure. He likes to act coy, which is fine for someone like Marilyn Monroe. . . .
Anyway, his wife is as crazy as the day is long and has Wall Street ties that are troubling.
Judge Jeanine Pirro would be great. Her nomination alone would send many old Libs into cardiac arrest.

Meanwhile, the Obamas continue to expand their real estate portfolio.
After all, what did you think he was going to do with all that “fundraising” money?——help out other Dem politicians?

The Obamas now own a very large mansion in Washington near Embassy Row; a home in Rancho Mirage, CA., and another in Hawaii. An interior designer from CA has been tasked with furnishings the new digs. No doubt that it will be suggested that he donate his time and talent to the Obamas.

RE: Ted Cruz’ wife and her Goldman Sachs ties: Steven Mnuchin, a Goldman Sachs alumni is being considered by Donald Trump for Treasury Secretary. His father retired as a general partner at Goldman Sachs. So what? The majority of those who say the words as though they are toxic, have little actual understanding of the banking industry and its relationship to the fiscal well being of the United States.

Heidi Cruz is crazy? Whether true or not, she wouldn’t be the Supreme Court Justice, and he’s eminently qualified. Sandra O’Connor told of her husband, John, falling in love with another patient with dementia in the home where he was residing. What do we know about any of the spouses of the current justices?

McCain melts down in Nova Scotia:
Saturday in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the annual Halifax International Security Forum, Sen. John McCain pushed back against the possibility of President-elect Donald Trump’s administration using the tactic of waterboarding, as Trump may have suggested in the past.

“So I don’t give a damn what the president of the United States wants to do, or anybody else want to do, we will not waterboard,” he said. “We will not torture.”

    • Army Of One says:

McCain likes to portray himself as high and mighty and always as a POW.The fact is no one dies of water boarding, but plenty of people die at the hands of terrorists. If information can be gleaned in this manner, I’m all for it. War, as McCain should well know, is not a tea party. I could gag just looking at his lying face.
