First Thanksgiving

The First Thanksgiving by Jennie Augusta Brownscombe

We take time today to reflect on the many blessings we enjoy as citizens of this great nation, and wish the abundant bounties of this uniquely American holiday to each and every one of our readers.

Having just concluded a grueling political campaign season we are grateful for the election of a Republican president — Donald J. Trump — and his vice president, Mike Pence, along with  GOP majorities in the  House and Senate. The American people have spoken.

Do yourself a favor and read this inspiring Thanksgiving Proclamation by Revolutionary hero and our first President, George Washington, as he humbly asks “Almighty God” to bless this fledgling nation and her people.

President Washington’s proclamation reminds us that faith was was never far from the minds and lips of America’s founders. Try to imagine Obama uttering such a message. He is blatant in his lack of church attendance, his excuse being his presence would be too disruptive to the congregation. Other presidents wanted to attend church services and did so.

Thank you seeingredaz for shining a light on Arizona. Conservatives like me offer our Thanksgiving for you every week and wonder at how different (and how much smaller) our world would be without you. Bill

      William Heuisler,
Such kind words coming from someone with your experience and vast storehouse of political knowledge is a much appreciated compliment.

We are thankful for our readers and commenters who add depth to our conservative site. We have occasionally used suggestions we receive for posts.

Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving!

George Washington and our founders were true gifts from God.
How else could such a diverse group of men come together to give their all for US?

Meanwhile, please pray, really pray to God and ask Him to help Israel today.
If you have not seen the news, tens of thousands of citizens are fleeing due to wildfires (possible arson) that have sprung up today.

Not unlike the 100+ “wildfires” that started in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 10 days ago. No mention of the devastation on our news. The twitter and facebook accounts of people living in that very rural, vast setting say that firefighters have told them that it is definitely caused by arson.

May God continue to have Mercy on us and on the whole world.

  5. Conservative Since Birth says:

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We have much to be thankful for living in this wonderful country.
