D.R.E.A.M. Act morphs into dreamy amnesty

Illegal’s impossible to verify claims set stage for nightmare rather than dream

Once upon a time — in 2001 — we first heard of something known as the D.R.E.A.M. Act. The acronym stood for Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors. It was introduced as S.1291. The 2002 bill was drafted before the speech police ruled the words “illegal” and “alien” unacceptable, so they were used extensively throughout the bill.

The D.R.E.A.M. Act was a liberal dream come true, a warm and fuzzy piece of legislation lacking any means of verification while permanently swelling the ranks of the Democrat Party.

Those applying for the gift of U.S. citizenship need only affirm they were 16 years of age or younger when they initially entered the United States and are currently 35 years of age or younger. They have to declare that they have been persons of good moral character since initially being brought to the U.S. as children by their parents — illegally. Verifying how many came as babes in arms or ably propelled themselves over the border last year at age 34 is impossible to substantiate.

Along the way those hoping to access the overly generous provisions of the D.R.E.A.M. Act, simply became known by the sympathy provoking term, “Dreamers.” They are no longer “alien minors,” but merely those requiring compassion. There are consequences to this massive scale manipulation and the victims are not the illegals, but our own American citizen children.

The so-called “Dreamers” represent a dual assault on law-abiding, taxpaying American citizens and legal immigrants, since public universities grant illegals in-state tuition. American parents who send their children to out-of-state colleges have to pay higher tuition than illegals.

Most importantly, this scam results in illegals taking the limited number of spaces available for students at public universities, crowding out deserving American students and eventually competing with them in the job market.

Any illegal who claims they entered the U.S. before they were 16 years old and have lived here for at least five years can gain legal residence and ultimately citizenship merely by graduating high school, attending two years of college or entering the military. But even those requirements can be waived if they would cause “hardship.”

The biggest winners of this reckless lunacy will be the millions of illegals whose status is legitimized, and universities striving to enhance their numbers of Hispanic undergrads to 25 percent in order to qualify for a $1 billion fund set up by the Department of Education for “Hispanic Serving Institutions.” Over a dozen Arizona schools are on the notorious list.

President-elect Donald Trump has stated he will terminate DACA, (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), an executive action signed into law by Obama in 2012. It provides an exemption from deportation and a renewable two-year work permit.

Let’s be clear. Dreamers are dreaming of one thing: Stealth Amnesty. They are being aided and abetted by the Arizona Board of Regents and the Phoenix Union High School District, funded by citizen’s tax dollars while creating impediments to our own kids.

Sen. McCain and his Dream Act and also Rep. Flake’s Strive Act and not certain what they’ll call the new one next year but don’t believe they’ll be deporting them as the interview with Ryan on Hannity indicates that they’ve now done the DC Shuffle to dealing with only what they call Criminals and by DC English/Definition doesn’t include only entering Illegally, so if they do this and allow them and others to stay we’ve all been fooled One More Time by Campaign Rhetoric and Compromise/Surrender to the Swamp Managers once again. God Bless You All; Clair Van Steenwyk

Once these so-called dreamers become citizens and turn 21, they become sponsoring conduits for their illegal parents, as well as extended family members who have not yet invaded the US. The actual size of this component of amnesty is impossible to comprehend.
Chain Migration a major factor in “family reunification,” increases the numbers far beyond the 35 year old “children.” In Mexico and Central America, many 35 year olds are grandparents.

All I can say is “WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND”!!! We are a Republic nation of law not mob rule as in democracy. Citizenship is obtained by rules of law and not touchy feely bleeding heart morons. Having members of my family that came in legally and it wasn’t easy, we can’t dismiss the rule of law for sympathy.

What part of Voting for Incumbents and expecting any changes don’t the Voters Understand, you know Einsteins definition of Insanity doing the same thing over and expecting a different result is INSANE.

        Clair Van Steenwyk,
You are welcome to post comments here, but please stop putting up a link to your own website along with your comments. We address this issue on our “About” page.

It makes extra work for us since we always take the link down, as you must have noticed by now.

      • Doc says:

…so…since you’ve run for office numerous times with the EXACT Same result, particularly the office of U.S. Senator for AZ…should you apply Einstein’s definition to yourself, sir?

      • Clair Van Steenwyk says:

I’ve run on issues alone, with I might add no help from the SWAMP Managers in AZ or the misinformed, uninformed and those who prefer Incumbents and was able with little funds to have made a difference to some. I realize some who’ve never attempted to push back in this manner may not understand but I’ve also helped others run who’ve won, so I’ll just continue to work at what I enjoy doing and still have the Freedom to do.

After reading comments to my comment realize some hide behind internet names and use to attack rather than post comments on issues, this is why the GOP Elites win and by the way the comment about my putting my web address on and Seeing Red AZ says; You are welcome to post comments here, but please stop putting up a link to your own website along with your comments. We address this issue on our “About” page., however all I do is fill out the form at bottom of post had no idea it wasn’t permitted, but will honor the request and no longer post.

It would be interesting to do a study regarding how much money is spent each month on substitute teachers.

Earlier this year, I treated an 83 year old woman who had been working as a substitute teacher in several schools in the West Valley. She had been injured—and not the first time—by a “student”. She told me that on most days there are more subs in the building than there are permanently assigned teachers. This woman is otherwise healthy and needs to work due to financial hardship. She now works at Fry’s supermarket, which pays better and where she is treated with respect.

If you think that the American public education system was designed by people with a pure heart, you would be wrong.
Just another cog in the wheel of the Lefties.

Being heavily advertised is a TV show called “Teachers”, which was apparently on last year as well.
The promo’s for the show go farther than mere sexual innuendo.
Another promo shows a young female teacher who has gathered several small children around a table and leads them in an exercise that shows them shouting, with snarled lips, “BANG, STAB, STAB, STAB”, while the children are making stabbing motions into the air as if holding a knife.

    RE: The RNC Chair
Off topic, but just read that the person to take Reince Preibus’ job is likely Ronna Romney McDaniel. She only started working in politics four years ago–for her uncle’s failed presidential campaign

McCain And Graham Join Dems In Call For Investigation Into ‘Russian Interference’

McCain, Graham, Schumer, Reed Joint Statement on Reports That Russia Interfered with the 2016 Election
    Sunday, December 11, 2016
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), Senate Democratic Leader-elect, and Jack Reed (D-RI), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services released the following joint statement today in response to news reports on the CIA’s analysis of Russian interference with the 2016 election:

“For years, foreign adversaries have directed cyberattacks at America’s physical, economic, and military infrastructure, while stealing our intellectual property. Now our democratic institutions have been targeted. Recent reports of Russian interference in our election should alarm every American.

“Congress’s national security committees have worked diligently to address the complex challenge of cybersecurity, but recent events show that more must be done. While protecting classified material, we have an obligation to inform the public about recent cyberattacks that have cut to the heart of our free society. Democrats and Republicans must work together, and across the jurisdictional lines of the Congress, to examine these recent incidents thoroughly and devise comprehensive solutions to deter and defend against further cyberattacks.

“This cannot become a partisan issue. The stakes are too high for our country. We are committed to working in this bipartisan manner, and we will seek to unify our colleagues around the goal of investigating and stopping the grave threats that cyberattacks conducted by foreign governments pose to our national security.”

Too bad these pathetic excuses for ‘representatives of the people’ weren’t this gung-ho over voter fraud when the Democrats won again and again. See: Al Franken

Voter fraud is a much worse problem than phantom Russian election hacking. There is ZERO proof the Russians hacked anything. Certainly no proof that the Russian government had anything to do with it.

And they had absolutely no problem with the Secretary of State using an unsecured server and having classified information on that server. Now that their person lost an election, cyber security is a major problem.

McCain should be charged with treason for meeting with ISIS goons.

    • Observer says:

It can’t just be serendipity that always unites Señor Juan McAmnesty, his boy toy Lindsey Grahamesty and amnesty loving Democrat Chuckie Schumer into a threesome on so many leftwing issues. They were all part of the amnesty pushing Gang of Eight, along with Jeff the Flake and other disreputables.

      • Braveheart says:

The DREAM Act will grant amnesty to illegals no matter how old they are now as long as they claim to have come to the U.S. before age 16, said they’ve been here for five years and profess to have graduated from high school. Do you think the feds are going to check any of those claims to ensure compliance when we are talking about millions of people, many who change their last names from their father’s to their mothers on a whim.

Reagan was conned into signing the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty, assured it was a “one time“ event. At that time we saw untold numbers of illegals resort to fraud to gain citizenship. The DREAM Act does nothing to prevent this from happening again. Taxpaying Americans will be on the hook for all the benefits they will apply for along with education and medical costs. The criminal justice system is already burdened to the hilt with these “good people.”

I voted for Donald Trump because he said he was going to build a wall and enforce the law. Now he sounds like he’s backtracking. I hope I’m wrong.

    • Saguaro Sam says:

When will the McGrahmnesty twins come out of the closet?
      They’re most definitely—
      Dems.

Interesting how McAmnesty inserts the word “bipartisan” whenever he’s sticking it to US.

  7. Clair Van Steenwyk says:

The Real Voter Fraud is committed by the Elite GOP who support the SWAMP Managers who get everyone who’s an Incumbent back in or elevated to higher office at the Expense of Freedom in the name of Party Unity, well how’s that working out for US now, still the same Old Swamp Managers running things and Slogans no matter who they belong to change nothing.

  8. Conservative Since Birth says:

When I see ‘DREAMERS’ marching in the streets of Phoenix with Mexican flags, insisting on special treatment, sometimes actually showing racism, I’m so turned off to their “cause” that I ignore them and vote against any AZ politician who helps them.
The problem of illegal immigration has just gotten bigger as the politicians ‘helped’ them over the last 2-3-4 decades. This war between Mexico and the United States has gone on long enough. It’s time to build a wall and stop giving away our country.

  9. Capt. Marvel says:

Slippery House Speaker Paul Ryan “speaks” in favor of “dreamers.” This is from the Hill:
Ryan: GOP won’t ‘pull the rug out’ from ‘Dreamers’
    http://thehill.com/homenews/house/309462-ryan-gop-wont-pull-the-rug-out-from-dreamers

Ryan is a liberal cloaked as a Republican. He was the ideal running mate for Mitt Romney. Two peas in a pod.
