Jeff Flake impersonates a Republican as reelection nears

Monday’s mail held quite a surprise. There was a letter from someone passing himself off as Jeff Flake asking for money for an upcoming reelection campaign. Jeff Flake, you will recall, is Arizona’s slippery junior senator serving with John McCain, now attempting to persuade Arizona Republicans that he represents our interests.

The missive begins with these words, “President Obama and his team spent a lot of time over the past eight years using executive orders to grow the federal government — and now we are working around the clock to make it smaller.”

Bashing Obama, he omits the fact that he took great pride in being a member of Barack Obama’s basketball team and traveling to unusual locales with the Democrat president — including Kenya as the sole Republican, and accompanying him to Communist Cuba to normalize relations with repressive dictator Raul Castro.

Flake then advises that he “had the privilege to meet both privately with Judge Gorsuch and as a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary” attempting to take credit for President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court appointment. What Jeff Flake neglects to mention is his zealous, but failed advocacy for fast-tracking the confirmation of Obama’s lame duck Democrat nominee Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the seat of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia.

Jeff demonstrated his Flaky side when questioning President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch, turning serious business into a joke. (video) No one has ever accused the perpetually smirking Flake of being an intellectual, but this display of foolishness gave new meaning to the word embarrassing.

Flake also broke with Senate Republicans, voting with the Democrats to confirm lawyer William H. Orrick III, a high dollar Obama campaign bundler, to the U.S. District Court. Last week, Orrick blocked President Trump’s executive order to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities refusing to cooperate with immigration enforcement. Orrick was not unknown to Jeff Flake. He worked at the Department of Justice when the agency filed a lawsuit against the state of Arizona and was involved in coordinating the Obama administration’s argument against SB 1070.

Judge Orrick issued a temporary restraining order against the Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life group that released undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood officials and abortionists haggling over lunch for dollar amounts in the sale of aborted human body parts.

Jeff Flake is a dedicated amnesty proponent, who worked with McCain to orchestrate the Gang of Eight amnesty scheme with two other RINOs and four of the furthest left Democrats in the U.S. Senate. This betrayal came immediately after he was safely ensconced in the senate, having won by 3 slim percentage points. Count on the fact that this duplicitous bill will be revived if Flake is returned to the senate. Don’t be conned by the tricky rhetoric that “our immigration system is broken.” The only thing broken is the will to enforce it — a nightmare scenario in these perilous times. When Flake says, “We must quickly and thoughtfully secure our borders,” read between the lines. To Flake “thoughtfully” is amnesty, without using the career killing word. And America does not have borders.  We have a single border surrounding our entire (contiguous) country.

In the solicitation letter Jeff Flake portrays himself as a supporter of President Trump, another colossal lie. Jeff Flake’s refusal to endorse Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was followed by his repeated declaration that he would not vote for Trump. In fact, he haughtily declared Trump “can’t and shouldn’t win.  Not voting for Trump put Flake firmly in Hillary Clinton’s column.

Flake has long demonstrated he has no core. Prior to his political career, Flake worked as a lobbyist and registered foreign agent for Rossing Uranium — one of the world’s largest suppliers of nuclear fuel — which operates a mine in the African country of Namibia where Flake did his LDS mission. Flake earned a substantial salary opening doors in D.C. and promoting the firm which had deep financial ties to Iran. When it benefited him as a candidate, Flake deftly switched his position on Iran.

Flake nearly threw the left-leaning Arizona Republic into apoplexy, causing it to editorially declare Flake to be a mere “politician” — no longer a “statesman,” when he exhibited a campaign related change of heart on legalizing millions of illegal aliens. It was just a short-term move in order to secure votes. Those on the editorial board need not have wasted a moment’s concern.  He reverted to his former position immediately after the votes were counted.

When your solicitation letter arrives, consider using the enclosed postage paid envelope to send it back to him — empty — replicating the promises he’s made.

Dr. Kelli Ward is a bright conservative possessing core convictions.  Check out her website. Send her a donation.  She doesn’t have the D.C. lobbyist crowd who fund Jeff Flake. She needs us. These are six-year terms. How much more of the McStatus quo can we take?

Great points yet Ward did not demonstrate strong campaign skills in the last primary. Then, when she lost she ungracious lectured McCain on civility while calling him a “senescent Senator.” If you call for civility, you must model civility. Despite all that, I will support her when she persuades me she can pull in enough swing voters to win.

    • Army Of One says:

Kelli Ward was outspent by a 10 to 1 margin by the doddering RINO McCain. He plastered the prime time with deceptive spots configuring him as a conservative which he is not and never has been. He also claimed to be a friend of our veterans when America’s biggest VA scandal, resulting in needless deaths due to lousy care and excessive wait times, took place right here in Phoenix.

McCain disgustingly sent out numerous mailers linking Dr. Ward, a physician, to ISIS terrorists and accused her of enabling them. Her husband, also a doctor, served several tours of duty in Afghanistan. It was dimwit McCain who actually met with ISIS leaders and called them “freedom fighters.”

Agree. Kelli Ward is a fine candidate and even when you’re as accomplished as she – it’s a dastardly thing to have to go up against a wealthy, lying, Soros-supported, troublemaking, lowdown, Democrat, good-for-nothing old coot like McCain. He’s got no scruples and will win at any cost. I blame the low-information voters of this state for McCain’s long tenure. If they’d pay just a little bit of attention to who’s running and McCain’s “record,” he’d be outta here! When is enough enough for these voters. A change is enough reason to have voted for Ward – and she’d represent the people of AZ well. Not by flying around the world getting nothing accomplished, supporting Hillary and undermining Trump.

Flake is the same kind of person. The video above ‘turning serious business into a joke’ was all about him – and it was loony – it was idiotic to waste time like that on something that made no sense – as you could tell by Judge Gorsuch’s polite reaction.

We have two of the most unpopular senators. It’s time to stop voting for them yet again.

  2. Arizona Conservative Guy says:

Lots of good information here. Thanks, SRAZ. I’m sending this post out to my list. Incumbency is a tough nut to crack. Only hard facts make inroads. This post is loaded with them. I can think of even more….

  3. Kimball says:

I’ve known Jeff Flake for many years. You’ve nailed him. Great job!

  4. Saguaro Sam says:

Someone posted above, “. . . I will support her when she persuades me she can pull in enough swing voters to win.”

How gloriously pompous and short-sighted. Obviously expecting far more from Dr. Kelli Ward than from McCain or Flake.

What has McCain, or Flake for that matter, EVER done to persuade you to vote for him?
I really do want to know.

What stellar careers have they had, besides living off the public dole while raking in untold amounts of money from lobbyists and others who want a favor? A Washington twist on the age-old profession called prostitution.

If you can conclude the McCain even remotely gives off so much of a whiff of civility, please produce the evidence. (Well, he does give off a thimble full of civility when he busses in all those Vietnamese folks to his various public-in-name-only political functions.)

What has he done for the legal, taxpaying citizens of Arizona?
Sure, when it’s nearing election time, he will dust off a couple letters from U.S. military Veterans who are needing help after being screwed and abused by the very system that he has helped design.

Remember when he used to use the tactic of scaring military veterans about potential closure of Davis-Monthan and Luke AFBs?
He rolled that one out time and time again.

Within a week or so of the Phx V.A. whistleblowers dropping their first harrowing reports, McCain and his motorcade drove right past the V.A. hospital on his way to a political fundraising event at the Ritz Carlton. Family members of veterans and other interested persons were standing on the sidewalk, carrying signs, and McCain cruised on by. As they like to say in southern Arizona, McCain doesn’t like to get his signature tasseled loafers dusty.
Never let a medically neglected veteran get in the way of a rubber chicken dinner with the high and mighty.

Has any U.S. Congress member (allegedly) representing the citizens of Arizona ever made One fact-finding visit to the PHX VA?

The comment posted on SRAZ on May 2 at 8:45 a.m. is obviously written by someone who agrees with Paul Ryan; John McCain, and Jeff Flake and their GOP philosophy of self-annihilation.

Bravo, Saguaro Sam!! Take a bow…and then another for your spot on comment.

I was in attendance at the state meeting you mentioned where McCain bussed in the Vietnamese, waving not American flags, but those of Vietnam, the nation they couldn’t wait to leave.

I was also present when both McCain and Flake were booed and greeted with turned backs and walkouts when they were brought into a state meeting by their lapdog Robert Graham.

When McCain engaged in one of his purges of conservative elected precinct committeemen, many of those longtime, hardworking PCs were replaced by McCain’s Vietnamese contingent. I never heard of a single one of them attending a district meeting or offering to do any work for the AZ Republican Party. He didn’t care. One he was back in DC for another six years, nothing else mattered to him. Jeff Flake is no different.

  5. Jakesez says:

I agree that this is one of the best articles yet. I also agree that Kelli Ward will have a hard time wining. But to say she lost because McCain out spent her 10 to 1 is not a good argument because Flake will have access to the McCain machine and will also out spend here as well. While I would like a more does wins she will do a much better job than Flake.

A little better organization would help Dr. Ward. Getting signs was a frustrating affair. It was a long drive and a couple of time the office was closed when I got these. This time I will load up with signs and make them available at my home.

    • Conservative Since Birth says:

It’s called money. “Organization” takes money. Also, the AZGOP and the GOPe in D.C. wanted McCain in there again and paid no attention to her.

She’ll depend on money from us and people like Laura Ingraham showcasing her during the primary.

  6. Vince says:

Jeff Flake is a snake. He needs to be sent home from DC and get a real job.
