Is serious condition downplayed by McCain’s office, Mayo Clinic?

The New York Times is reporting that neurosurgeons reviewing the facts surrounding John McCain’s craniotomy to remove a 2 inch blood clot “above his left eye”.are concluding that his surgery may be more serious than initial descriptions have implied, and could delay his return to Washington by a longer period of time than the week originally stated.

“Usually, a blood clot in this area would be a very concerning issue,” said Dr. Nrupen Baxi, an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He added, “The recovery time from a craniotomy is usually a few weeks.”

The cause of the clot has not been disclosed. Possibilities include a fall or a blow to the head, a stroke or certain brain changes associated with aging. McCain will be 81 next month. His office did not divulge if he takes blood thinners.

“Usually, a blood clot like this is discovered when patients have symptoms, whether it’s a seizure or headaches or weakness or speech difficulties,” Dr. Baxi said. “Generally, it’s not found on a routine physical because doctors would not know to look for it.”

An initial press release regarding his condition indicated McCain’s blood clot was found during a routine physical examination.

McCain’s recent confused questioning (video) of former FBI director James Comey led to widespread speculation that he suffered a health related impairment.  He dismissed questions that something was wrong by saying he had stayed up too late watching a Diamondbacks baseball game the night before.

The dependably McCain-fawning Arizona Republic, unable to ignore his bizarre performance, even addressed the elderly senator’s incoherent interview of Comey in this coverage by McCain’s assigned reporter, Dan Nowicki.   Columnist E.J. Montini used the descriptive words, “awkward, befuddled performance,” concluding it was “embarrassing.”

  1. VINOAZ says:

Truth is a stranger to politicians and the press. We don’t know the true nature of his medical condition. We do know he is a nasty miserable RINO. He is an embarrassment to AZ, veterans and decent folks. He should have been defeated by the ballot. What more proof do you need that elections are rigged? OK, here is more. Congress is full of the most corrupt inept people in the country, yet 97% are re elected. The Vietnam POW records need to be unsealed. Let’s find out what John boy has been hiding all these years. Recall McCain, defeat Flake, Make AZ great again.

  2. Seen It All says:

McCain created a glowing history of himself, omitting major facts. The Wikipedia page devoted to him is really devoted to him, since he and his operatives obviously wrote it.

When he’s running for reelection, he actually works the phones, calling state legislators and statewide city mayors for their endorsement. Given his vile temper and retaliatory manner, most fall in line. Then his staff posts the long list of his “supporters,” effectively taking the air out of the sails of any challengers.

Sick or well, McCain is proof positive we need term limits. No lobbyists dare withhold money from him since due solely to his longevity, he sits on powerful committees where their “support” buys the votes they need for the entities they represent.

It’s a contemptible system that benefits the corrupt, like McCain, while taking decent newly elected members of congress and ultimately tainting them, since money is what is needed to effectively campaign.

  3. Former GOP PC says:

Ramping up sympathy for McCain is outside my realm of reasonableness. He is a vulgar and treacherous liar who screws conservatives and Prescient Trump over at every turn. When he partnered with out of state liberals — who donated not only to McCain, but Obama and Jeff Flake—in order to purge conservative precinct committeemen from the Arizona Republican party, that sealed it for me. My wife and I were taken out of our elected positions through McCain’s surrogates overfilling the allotted slots with McCain toadies who have never showed up at the district meetings or lifted a finer for the party or its candidates. That seems to be just fine with the current and former state party chairman who slavishly take their marching orders from McCain and are feverishly plotting to reelect Jeff the Flake. We donated years of time and money to the AZ GOP and were kicked to the curb by the Republican establishment. They can all pound sand.

I don’t care how McCain leaves the senate. I just want him out!

  4. Saguaro Sam says:

He is the poster boy for Term Limits.

And know that when that hell raiser goes to that big fundraiser in the afterlife, the media and McCain’s mafia will vilify anyone who refuses to shed a tear.

Like the Wizard of Oz, who made himself out to be the KIng of Quite A lot, it turns out that he is just a nasty little man who has hidden behind a curtain and relies on the gullibility of others to create his own kingdom.

    • D.B Cooper says:

Very well stated, Saguaro Sam! Many of us will be in the “not shedding a tear” category. We’ve already been vilified by McCain and his operatives who worked their asses off to remove us as PCs, just as Former GOP PC states in his earlier comment on this post. The AZ GOP leadership should be ashamed for not issuing any rebuke of McCain’s actions and Flake’s denouncements of Donald Trump.

Are Robert Graham and Jonathan Lines so beholden to these two phonies that they allow good conservative elected party workers to be excised from the party? Now they talk about the importance of recruitment of new PCs. That would qualify as a joke if not so pathetic. None of us received any respect for our years of work, and they want more folks to be treated like excrement? My days of recruiting conservative PCs are over.

      • Doc says:

Recruiting new PCs for AZGOP is like recruiting chickens for Colonel Sanders…
…as for Sag. Sam’s words of Wisdom above…is there a “u_______g on on his grave” category? ‘Cuz that’s exactly what I’ll do given th’ opportunity. The man’s a PIG & deserves NO DIGNITY OR RESPECT WHAT-SO-EVER.

  5. Saguaro Sam says:

Lindsey Graham must have been taken to the woodshed after he stated on CNN that McCain had been getting forgetful.

Graham now saying that he misspoke.

C’mon, they’ve shared an apartment in D.C. for years.
