AZ GOP ignores conservative Syms, endorses LD 28 RINOs

View the deceptive mailer that omits incumbent State Representative Maria Syms

It’s no secret the establishment Republicrats running the Arizona Republican Party have not represented conservatives since Robert Graham, a McCain toady, held the party reins. Now with his hand picked successor Jonathan Lines at the helm, bizarre campaign mailings have been sent out in Legislative District 28.

Pay attention to the missing conservative on the mailers. Somehow District 28 Legislator Maria Syms is mysteriously absent from the campaign pieces arriving in voter’s mailboxes. Know this: It’s an inside job by the party body snatchers.

There are two GOP candidates running for two state House seats in the district. Conservative incumbent Maria Syms, who deserves to be retained, and RINO rabble rouser Kathy Pappas Petsas — known for wanting to “Dekookify” the state GOP in 2012 by clearing out conservatives.  Petsas has aligned with former House member Kate Brophy McGee, now running for the state Senate. Both Petsas and McGee are committed abortion proponents, Syms is pro-life. Only candidate Petsas, lacking relevant experience, and her mentor Brophy McGee appear on the mailer.

This omission was no oversight. There is a war being waged within the Republican Party, as RINOs consider themselves superior to conservatives in general and President Trump supporters, specifically.

But it is on the fundamental life issue where the rubber meets the road. The Republican Party Platform is unequivocally pro-life, even though John McCain was not bonded to that defining principle; waffling as he understatedly called abortion an “unpleasant” procedure and declaring that he wanted to take the party back to the time prior to the 1980 inclusion of the pro-life plank. (Brief video.)

Maria Syms’ stellar career includes having served as an Assistant Attorney General, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Paradise Valley Town Councilwoman, and now as a State Representative. She has a proven track record advocating for education, law enforcement, public safety and border security.

SRAZ wrote about conservatives being targeted in LD 28 by Kathy Petsas in 2012. When it comes to RINOs, the tune remains the same…it’s just blown on a different harmonica.

The Pro-Life plank of the Republican Platform states:

“Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.”

That basic premise is not one reasonable people thrust aside. Those who fight strenuously for the “right” to kill defenseless babies, are neither reasonable, nor worthy of representing families across the district.

Learn more about Representative Maria Syms. She’s the clear choice for voters in Legislative District 28.

This omission of a solid Republican incumbent by the party leadership is indefensible. They can’t hide behind not having her photo since it’s readily available on her website. This is a scam on the district’s Republican voters being perpetrated by none other than the Arizona Republican Party. I am thoroughly disgusted. I don’t live in the district, but if I did, I’d make my vote a “single shot” for Rep. Syms, giving her twice the impact.

  2. Rob Haney says:

There is even a space on the mailer, next to the ethically challenged Petsas, to have included Syms. Syms is also the incumbent and this is Petsas’ first run for the legislature. Can you imagine the excuses the AZGOP will dream up? They should call Robert Graham. He has a ton of them.

Center for AZ Policy (CAP) specifically excluded endorsing McGee and Petsas in their voting recommendations. They recommended voting only for Syms.

I got a laugh out of the McGee flyer that states ” No to Special interest!” What does she call the communist led redfored organization and the “cheep labor” Chambers of Commerce and the public employee unions and the illegal immigration advocates? In RINO parlance that would be her grass root supporters of course.

Before I react to this and act upon it, it would be helpful for me to see the payment notice, which I suspect is on the flip side of the mailer.  Please send that image.

      George Moriarty,
The opposite side of the mailer includes these words:
Paid for by the Arizona Republican Party
Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee
      3501 North 24th Steet
      Phoenix, Arizona 85016

Thanks for responding. That said, what kept you from posting the image or sending it to me in the offline email I sent? It’s not that I specifically doubt you; I just doubt everything posted on the internet that I can’t verify. Your claim is easily verifiable for someone in LD-28, but it isn’t for me. Absent the image, I’ll stay out of this fight with the AZGOP.

First of all, you have used two distinctly different names. When posting comments, sticking to the same name ensures your comments will be posted in a timely manner.

Second, this site is our chosen sole means of corresponding with readers. No one gets special treatment. Your demands are over-the-top.

Most importantly, the mailer IS posted here. Since you don’t live or vote in LD 28, this is obviously of no consequence to you, other than imparting information. The back of the mailer gave the information we reported. We didn’t include that side since it addressed a ballot proposition and not the subject at hand.

By all means stay on-board with the AZGOP. It no longer represents conservatives, but that seems to be agreeable with you. We, and the majority of our readers, expect more.

I responded to the email notice, with no knowledge–my bad–you would post it online. I did that offline because I had no intention to publicly criticize you for what I believed to be an oversight. My positions are far from where I find the AZGOP on almost everything, but before I enter the fray, I prefer to be armed with as much relevant evidence as I can find. That’s a variation of “trust, but verify.” As to multiple identities, you’re not the only one who uses this tool, and by posting my email comments in the clear, you drove the system to an alternate logon, I didn’t. I did, however, learn some important lessons about your blog and your procedures.

Blogs have comment sections for readers to post comments. When something is posted by a new, unverified reader, it is held in “moderation.” We check incoming comments as we are able, and do not respond to any commenter “off line,” Why you would be under the impression that anything you write here is “off line” is baffling. This is a forum for commenting on specific posts.

Seeing Red AZ is a conservative website that has been operating since June 2007. In all that time, we’ve never had a reader express an expectation similar to yours.

The GOP is defying Trump after everything he has done to promote Conservative principles that benefit the dead GOP.

In Texas, Trump’s rally is drawing close to 100k people – waiting in line OVERNIGHT, knowing they won’t get inside the venue, in order to get a glimpse of the most effectual president in US history. We have to purge the GOP of anti-American, anti-Trump leftists.

An FYI – we were in the valley last week, and went walking in Sun City (85373 zip code area). I was surprised at the numbers Hiral and Sinema yard signs. There were just a few Lesko yard signs.

Republicans get out and vote! We must fight for our Country!!!

  6. Realist says:

I’m a lifelong, active conservative Republican. I have been thoroughly disgusted by liberals posing as Republicans to get elected. John McCain, now being worshiped like a deity, comes immediately to mind. I have never trusted him since he first carpetbagged into Arizona after dumping his first family to marry the much younger beer heiress Cindy Hensley.

Jeff Flake was mentored by McCain and Jon Kyl . All three of them have been in the forefront of what is euphemistically called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” which is nothing more than full blown amnesty for illegal alien invaders.

Now we are faced with another assault of thousands storming our gates and being treated with kid gloves because the Repubs in control are wary of looking like heartless hardasses by turning them back. I’ve grown to become a heartless hardass. Our nation can’t absorb all of these invaders, who will cost taxpaying citizens additional $$$BILLIONS.

We deserve to have our laws obeyed and our sovereignty respected. Legal, educated, actual immigrants, who want to acclimate and come here through the proper channels and have something to offer our country are welcome. Illiterate invaders are not. The only ones who want them are the Dems who seek to do away with citizenship as a requirement for voting. The Dems see the illegals as a means of swelling the voter rolls and, ultimately rendering the Republican party to the trash heap of history.

As to the post at hand, AZ GOP needs to be flooded with calls about this travesty in LD28. The number to call is (602) 957-7770. Good luck reaching a live person to answer.

I agree with you. The split in the party is becoming quite evident.. Sorry, it will make us ineffective for a while until the RHINOS see the error of their way and sneak back into the conservative group. They will come out again and we will have to slap them down again, but that’s life in the GOP Don’t lose hope and vote for you think is the best person for the job no matter what.

    This is Maria Syms:

  8. East Valley Voter says:

Rep. Syms has actual accomplishments on her resume. I had no idea of her background until reading about her on SRAZ. Thanks!

I learned years ago that the acronym GOP stood for Grand Old Party. After what I’ve read about the AZ GOP leadership, it doesn’t appear to be all that grand. Abe Lincoln, our first Republican president, and Ronald Reagan, who unapologetically brought modern day conservatism to the American people, would be rolling in their graves if they knew of the deception being displayed in this mailer by those who call themselves Republican leaders. I wish I was able to cast my ballot for Maria Syms. I would do so proudly.
