Following in the pre-Thanksgiving tradition begun by President Abraham Lincoln, President Donald Trump pardoned a turkey. California’s own dual fowl turkey and lame duck governor, Leftist Jerry Brown also issued a pardon.
Joel B. Pollak, Senior Editor-at-Large at Breitbart News, has the complete report of the ongoing case including corroborating links.
The sentence of Democrat State Senator Roderick Wright — including 90 days in jail, three years of probation, and 1,500 hours of community service — following his conviction on federal perjury and voting fraud charges, was overturned by Jerry Brown. Less than upright Wright was also banned for life from holding public office.
While running to represent California’s 25th district in the state senate in 2008, Wright lied about his residence to qualify for the ballot. He claimed he lived in an Inglewood apartment complex within the district, but prosecutors presented evidence that Wright’s true residence was an upscale Baldwin Hills home outside the district.
Voter fraud and perjury are not unique to Wright. A plethora of other California Democrats were have also been charged with corruption.
According to this 2014 LA Times report, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Kathleen Kennedy wasn’t buying any of Wright’s excuses noting, “It didn’t pass the smell test and it doesn’t now. She added that there was an “arrogance” in Wright’s actions in trying to circumvent the law, an assumption “that the law doesn’t apply to him … the law applies to all of us.”
In addition to Gov. Jerry Brown, Wright’s supporters included none other than California U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, who somehow — after a 40-year career in D.C. — affords a 6.000 sq. ft., $4.3 million mansion on a congressional salary, and also doesn’t live in the district she claims to represent.
