Reading between the (Jonathan) Lines

Jonathan Lines has flack roll out a deceptive comment to revive his own ailing campaign for AZ GOP chair

An article filled with contrivances and conniving appears in the Hillary-endorsing Arizona Republic newspaper. It accuses the husband of former state senator and U.S. Senate candidate, Kelli Ward of spitting in the eye of a former campaign worker.

Kelli Ward and her husband Michael Ward are both physicians. He is an Air Force Colonel, whose resumé is jam-packed with extraordinary military and medical achievements.

Dr. Kelli Ward is running for the AZ GOP chairmanship. Current chairman Jonathan Lines, in a brazen display of bravado is now seeking a second term, despite overseeing the loss of previously Republican held state offices in the November election.

The person claiming to have been victimized moved over to the Martha McSally camp after a hard-fought primary election with Dr. Kelli Ward, ultimately won by radical leftist Kyrsten Sinema. McSally was later appointed to fill the senate vacancy following John McCain’s death.

The alleged incident reportedly occurred at the Arizona Republican Party’s general election night gala on November 6, 2018 at the Paradise Valley Doubletree Resort. The PV township’s police chose not file charges due to conflicting reports from the two men and a witness.

But it’s the novel quote from Kyle Pierce, executive director of the AZ GOP that is most telling. Acting as a self-appointed investigator, judge and jury, he stated the alleged incident reflected poorly on Ward’s efforts to lead the party:

“It is extremely disappointing to learn about the assault that occurred at the election night watch party hosted by the Arizona Republican Party,” Pierce said. “On a night meant to celebrate with our dedicated volunteers who had united behind our Republican candidates, the Wards decided to settle political scores. Her recent calls for unity ring hollow given the attacks on those who unified behind our Republican nominee.”

Pierce’s boss is Jonathan Lines, running for reelection. Lines is best known for this deceptive mailer which omitted the conservative incumbent in the Nov. 2018 election. The mailer included the words, “Paid for by the Arizona Republican Party.” The result of Jonathan Lines’ unsavory manipulation is that Legislative District 28 lost both of its House seats to Democrats. Four of the nine Republican candidates on the mailer lost.

The red state of Arizona is now veering purple having lost a U.S. Senate seat, Secretary of State, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and one of the two seats on the utility rate-setting Corporation Commission. Greg Stanton, the left-wing former mayor of Phoenix won in Congressional District 9. Dems now hold five of Arizona’s nine CD seats

The state party leadership post is a job Jonathan Lines is obviously ill-equipped to handle. He owns a roofing business 200 miles away in Yuma, has 11 young children to parent and is rarely in the Phoenix-based Republican headquarters office. Lines is clearly over his head as evidenced by the unprecedented GOP loses he presided over.

Dr. Kelli Ward has traveled the state making invaluable contacts. She will unify the Republican party and will not engage in the deceptive and disconnected practices that have brought unprecedented election losses. Elected state committeemen will be voting for party officers Jan. 26.  Dr. Kelli Ward deserves your vote.

Connect the dots. Jonathan Lines was brought onboard by McCain ally Robert Graham when his own term was finished. Like his mentor, Graham was not a supporter of President Trump. Graham was rewarded for his loyalty with a military academy appointment for his son.

It’s definitely time for a change. The status quo has been a disaster. My wife and I are both state committeeman and look forward to casting our votes for Kelli Ward.

Reward Jonathan Lines with a reelection after his monumental failures? Only those who are in the dark would consider such a travesty.

Unfortunately many of the state committeemen have long distances to travel since Arizona is a large state. Too many give their proxies to establishment lackeys who have a McAgenda. He night be cold, but his long arm still has a mighty reach via his surrogates..

We can’t afford to leave this important election to chance. Thanks to seeing Red AZ for getting the important information out. I’m sending a link to this post to other PCs I know and will ask them to forward it to those who also have a vote.

Just heard the interview on KFYI concerning the disagreement. The subject involved with the doctor was interviewed later and advised that he got spit upon. One of the witnesses stated she did not see the spitting.

All in all, I would vote for a bowling ball before I would vote for Mr. Lines.

    • Braveheart says:

I hope you’re an elected state committeeman. If so you won’t have to vote for either Lines or a bowling ball.

Kelli Ward is THE stellar candidate to take the reins of the AZ GOP. How fortunate we are that she’s putting herself out there for this job. She realizes with complete clarity what we are up against.

I live in LD28 and found those mailers I received confusing. Of course the situation was rectified in the ballot booth as I voted a straight republican ticket including the incumbent. However, I believe the Dems won because they were much better organized and worked harder with more volunteers. I saw it. And that’s the most important reason the Republican leadership needs to be changed! Remove the infighting and let’s get to work!

    • LD 28 PC says:

How can you claim the “situation was rectified in the ballot booth” when we lost the conservative incumbent and were delivered TWO DEMOCRATS in her stead as the state party apparatus tried to engineer a win for RINO Kathy Petsas? Instead, she lost and so did we by losing Maria Syms, through the insane efforts of Jonathan Lines.

The Democrats were not better organized. We were stabbed in the back by our own supposed leadership. Lines set this debacle in place with the mailing he sent out. He owes us all an apology, which we will never get.

      • Willy Wayne says:

It was rectified for me because I’m not stupid. And I saw the Dems working. And I saw their neighborhood signs. And my young daughters received special mailers from them..The only Republican who ever contacted me was David Schweikert. I don’t know what kind of a PC you are in LD 28 but it’s my opinion as a 50 year republican voter that there is enough blame to go around for everyone.

  5. Realist says:

In all the years I’ve been a state committeeman, evidence of the state party so actively working against the grassroots conservatives has never been so blatant as under Graham and Lines.
Previously we had to deal with AZ’s senators McCain and Kyl working to manipulate precinct committeeman elections with this same goal in mind. Now its a systemic malignancy within our our own state party. This creates a real conundrum. If conservatives leave, then the RINOcrats completely take over our party, making it a Democrat twin. If we stay and fight, we are beaten to a bloody pulp. There’s no enemy as brutal as your own kin, when power and/or money are in the mix.

  6. Jethro says:

Inside sources at the AZGOP leaked info that additional state committeemen slots are being declared in those districts friendly to Lines in order for more state committeemen to be appointed who will vote for Lines. Will the corruption never end?

  7. jake sez says:

The establishment has been spreading the word among the LD’s that he reason we lost is because our candidates are too conservative. They are trying to get the LD’s to call out to more moderate candidates to run so as not to offend the voters. This is a bunch of OBAMA. The republicans have pushed the conservatives out of the party and into the independent column. If the top candidates are too liberal or moderate they stay home and don’t vote. If they don’t vote for the top of the ticket they don’t vote for the bottom of the ticket. If we want the conservative vote, we need conservative candidates.

  8. jake sez says:

Anyone have information on Doyal Shamley running against LInes?

  9. jake sez says:

There is a small bio on Republican Briefs. Sounds good to me.

Don’t be conned by this ringer. He’s been recruited to take rural votes away from conservative Kelli Ward. They are trying to distract us with a new shiny object/ candidate, who no one has ever hear of.

Dr. Ward is not a newcomer. She campaigned hard against the McCain and Flake machine. She’s traveled the state in her senate campaigns and continues to do so, speaking at district meetings statewide as she campaigns for Republican state chairman.

I’m grateful for her dedication. and desire to take on the establishment that has been in control while our state turns blue and we’ve lost previously Republican seats in the state legislature and statewide offices.

  10. GreenValleyGal says:

No other candidate in this race has the experience challenging establishment forces. She is a MAGA woman!

  11. GreenValleyGal says:

As an elected Republican state committeeman, I will vote for Kelli Ward.
