The latest report assessing the AzMERIT test scores for our state’s students points to abysmal failure, with over half of the students failing in math and third graders unable to pass the reading exams.
The scores of seventh, eighth and ninth graders fell in English. According to the report, fewer than 40% of those eighth grade and higher even passed basic proficiency in the language of our country.
But the Arizona Department of Education proudly proclaims the test’s new name AzM2! (complete with an exclamation point.) Educrats priorities are skewed as our children are academically screwed.
If your stomach is strong enough, check out Arizona’s schools and their stats. You’ve been forewarned. SRAZ has randomly picked one. Scroll through the entire page and chart. It is listed as NR (academically Not Rated). With a Kindergarten through third grade student body of 766, listed as nearly 80% Hispanic, and likely a high percentage of English Language Learners (ESL), the mission statement is shameful There is no commitment to academic excellence, but rather this blather:
“A community that inspires future doers. In order to actualize our school vision, we here at Sevilla East School are committed to: 1. Creating a safe and loving environment for all. 2. Providing physical and emotional support for all stakeholders. 3. Engaging and empowering our community. 4. Challenging all stakeholders to tap into their highest potential to realize their dreams. 5. Holding one another accountable.”
The actual number of English language learners is redacted. Students, “without disabilities,” who received one or more in-school suspensions? 28. Students with Chronic Absenteeism? 258. Students Enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement Course? Zip. Zero. Nadda.
The teachers who are doing such an exemplary job of dumbing down our children are the same ones who dressed themselves in #RedsForEd T-shirts (SRAZ added the “s” for clarity ) followed a 24-year-old, self-described Socialist and hip hop music (non-accredited) teacher, as they abandoned more than 840,000 students for a week in violation of their contractual agreements. They then demanded — and received from spineless Gov. Doug Ducey — a 20% pay increase. Still, the part-time teachers (do you get the summer off, numerous half days, and lengthy holiday breaks?) have ample money to fund their unions,* which give $millions to Democrat candidates and left-wing issues.
Talk about getting a bang for our bucks. Our sons and daughters are being sexualized while taught about gender fluidity and Planned Parenthood is invited into their classrooms to teach them the relevancy of homosexuality and how abortion is a woman’s choice to make with her own body, breezily obliterating the fact that there are actually two heartbeats and frequently differing blood types.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to focus on academics to reach their lofty goal of “Challenging all stakeholders to tap into their highest potential to realize their dreams?” And why are kids now called “stakeholders?” If they learn nothing, these bogus stakes will be the only ones they’ll ever hold. Fillet Mignon will be forever out of reach.

And the travesty is that these Socialist Communist Hellholes Of Obfuscation & Liberal Stupidity (S.C.H.O.O.L.S.) will be coming after us in a couple of months to make their annual pitch saying the the problem is lack of money and that all we need is another round of generous “overrides” to solve it.
We stopped voting for school bond overrides years ago when our grade school kids were bringing home election propaganda in their backpacks. It was printed at the schools at taxpayer’s expense and put in their backpacks by their teachers
The money must be spent so they can get at least as much the following year. In our district, perfectly good schools were torn down and rebuilt over the summer, in order to spend the newly approved money. Meanwhile, the majority of the students read below grade level and print instead of write, but they know how to recycle and were shown Al Gore’s movie in their classrooms so they believe the planet is going to die due to climate change, which was then called Global Warming.
Exactly. The only way to eradicate the pox of public so-called “education” is to starve it. I long ago made a solemn vow to always vote no – and have kept it and will continue to keep it.
Rush Limbaugh took a call from a former teacher who said that his job of teaching civics and U.S. history was eliminated because the schools are no longer teaching those subjects.

Parents who care need to get their kids out of the public education morass ASAP. Teenagers today have no idea of what happened on September 11, 2001. The truth is too politically incorrect for the public schools to teach, Ask any teen you know. You’ll likely get a blank stare.
With the increasing numbers of illegals flooding our schools, our American citizen students are shortchanged as the focus shifts to teaching the ESL kids. It’s not the fault of the kids, but their invader parents must be held accountable and they all need to be deported back to their homelands.
My wife and I, and many of our family and friends, voted for Pres. Trump in large measure because he was committed to securing our border and building a wall. Now all of the congressional Dems who previously supported construction, have done a 180 and refuse to authorize funding. They view the illegals as the expanded base of the Dimocrat Party.
We left our church over this issue. It now does the majority of its missionary work in Spanish speaking countries and Utah has become a sanctuary state.

It’s important to remember that the Socialist hip hop music teacher Noah Karvelis was the campaign manager for far left and virtually credential-less Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman who was elected in 2018.
He was also the Arizona coordinator for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. Hoffman won with the support of the unionized teachers last year. That alone speaks volumes about the atrocious state of education in Arizona.
What a shame that more voters didn’t watch this exchange between the weak Kathy Hoffman and far better qualified Frank Riggs. I knew that Socialist Noah Karvelis led the Red For Ed demonstrators, but had no idea he was Hoffman’s paid campaign manger until I read your comment. That prompted me to find this via a Bing search. (I no longer use Google!)

Before her election to lead the Arizona Department of Education, Kathy Hoffman had taught preschool for one year — essentially a babysitter. Then she was a speech therapist for five school years which is the equivalent of 2 1/2 years at a regular full time job. She couldn’t be less qualified, but the teechurz put her in office.
The fact that she selected a Socialist to manage her campaign should have been front and center during the lead up to the election. I was unaware of that, and I think of myself as an informed voter. I certainly didn’t vote for her, but missed this crucial fact, which needed exposure.
