Media afflicted by Trump Derangement Syndrome
Editor & Publisher provides an inside look at how the press intends to cover the 2020 Presidential election.
The pathetic 2019 quarterbacking report is filled with recriminations over not giving enough significance to Donald Trump’s emergence on the political scene and the press’ assumptions that he was nothing more than an annoying gnat on the backside of the anointed donkey-rider Hillary Clinton.
Absent is the fact that American citizens were energized by his MAGA message and fed up with scandal-plagued Hillary, who arrogantly dismissed us as a “basket of deplorables.” The equally arrogant press’ most colossal blunder was misreading the electorate, whom they regarded as easily duped by their incessant left-wing coverage.
Realizations of the massive awakening across America was a pill too difficult to swallow. Voters heard a compelling message from the political novice New York businessman. There was an unmistakable authentic clarity to his message. Hillary’s fate was sealed as reports trickled out of her involvement in the destruction of thousands of emails when they were under congressional subpoena and preservation orders. A practiced charlatan, she blatantly lied about the attacks resulting in the deaths of four Americans, including the U.S. Ambassador, at the embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Prior to the Presidential debate, her cohort Donna Brazile — a political strategist and former DNC chair — using her position as a CNN commentator, fed the questions in advance to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. These are merely tip-of-the-iceberg corruptions in which Hillary engaged.
Meanwhile Donald Trump was building a loyal base raising the issues that resonate with Americans from coast to coast. Since being elected he has gone to work fulfilling his promises and has overseen the lowest unemployment rates in decades. The economy is soaring and he’s nominated two justices to the U.S. Supreme Court and many others to the federal district benches.
Editor & Publisher erroneously concludes, “Disillusioned voters blamed the press for a failure to present Trump as a viable nominee, let alone as their likely future president. Some declared that journalists missed the story of the Trump voter entirely.”
The publication either doesn’t comprehend the enormity of President Trump’s energized base or chooses to ignore it. Despite the leftist press’ irrational excuses, and predictions to the contrary, Americans won (video) and will again in 2020.
