Tainted prescription drugs and the China connection

The Washington Times features an important analysis by former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth. The Arizona Republican served 6 terms in Congress, where he was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. The article is titled, China and pharmaceuticals, the new ‘drug war’How America’s reliance on prescription drugs puts it at risk.

As we’ve often stated, “Knowledge is power.” Consider this column your weekend power infusion.

Excellent and very informative article, Thanks, SRAZ. I would have missed this. Appreciate the link.

Those of us who were loyal fans of Hayworth’s popular afternoon drive time radio show know exactly what is meant by “knowledge is power.” I always felt more knowledgeable/smarter by the time I arrived home from the office each weekday.

Chinese drug contamination is something I’ve been suspicious of, based on the country’s covert dealings and anti-American, Communist history. Most of us have no idea where the drugs we are prescribed by our trusted doctors and pick up at our neighborhood pharmacies actually originate. We assume we are getting quality medications, when in fact price is often a determiner of what we receive.

Several years ago, one of our doctors recommended not taking the generic of the anticoagulant medication he prescribed for a heart condition, saying it had fillers and binders that changed the composition from the “brand” drug. He also acknowledged the cost difference, which made the brand drug considerably more expensive.
