President Trump’s unequivocal support of Sen. Martha McSally is not enough for gullible Republicans seeking nirvana
Arizona Republicans with conservative credentials have been finding their email in-boxes filled with praiseful paeans to a never-before-heard-of challenger to incumbent Sen. Martha McSally, the former two-term congresswoman and sole Republican representing our state in the U.S. Senate. There is even a website the novice candidate with zero credentials and no political experience has up and running demanding that we “Demand” him. It would be tempting to brush this arrogant amateur off like lint on a pinstriped suit sleeve, but there is the enticement/excitement factor that mimics a teen crush. The problem is the teens in this case are mostly senior citizen GOP activists who should be wiser than to fall for a swaggering fast-talker.
These folks are all desperately seeking perfection, an entity which doesn’t exist in politics. They are willing to go for the untried and unknown, hoping he will be the Moses to lead them out of what they view as the political wilderness. The biblical account in Exodus reminds us even Moses’ followers, frustrated when they thought he spent too much time on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, ended up erecting and worshiping a golden calf, ultimately suffering the consequences for their faithlessness.
The senate makeup is crucial. Republicans — there are 51 — currently hold a slim lead over 47 Democrats (including 2 Independents who caucus with the Dems). This sliver-like margin is not one we can afford to risk. Senate votes are needed to confirm President Trump’s federal judicial nominees, including to the exceedingly important U.S. Supreme Court.
President Trump has enthusiastically endorsed Sen. Martha McSally, a fact lost on those who claim to support him but have fallen in lockstep with their golden calf.
With the magnitude of this race in mind, SRAZ is reposting our earlier post, “Daniel McCarthy’s challenge to Sen. McSally fulfills Kelly’s dream.”
The Democrat in this race is leftist, Second Amendment enemy, anti-Trumper Mark Kelly, husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords. The couple count the Obama’s among their friends. But don‘t look for that dreaded “D” word on his website. Taking his cue from Kyrsten Sinema’s senate campaign, “Democrat” is nowhere to be found. Still the Dems are pinning their hopes on him to bring the long held Republican senate seat into the Democrat column. Kelly’s supporters — open border, socialist multi-billionaire George Soros among them, have filled Kelly’s campaign coffers to overflowing.
According to Federal Election Commission disclosures Kelly has significantly out raised every candidate for the U.S. Senate in the entire nation — even longtime senators and those in leadership positions.
Daniel McCarthy’s supporters are still mired in, and consumed by, their loathing of John McCain. He is gone. Even McCain’s loyal senate sidekick Lindsey Graham has modified his stance and has become supportive of Pres. Trump. We all need to move forward. The past is behind us.
Pledge your support to help Republican Sen. Martha McSally retain the crucial Arizona senate seat. It matters.
