Arizona Republic imposes NEW WORD ORDER

“Progressive” new favored terminology, President Trump loses title

Conservative talk show host and best-selling author Dennis Prager is a man with the unique ability to make others think. He also possesses the talent to change minds, as he does with this instructive Prager U 5-minute video,* Left or Liberal?

We were drawn to this subject after noticing an interesting phenomena taking place in the…ahem…dare we say it?….radically leftist Arizona Republic newspaper.

A couple of headlines zero in on the new usage of the word “progressive.” It stands out starkly, minus “Flo” hawking insurance. Its erratic usages make unclear if it’s meant as a pejorative or compliment:

Progressive groups to spend $50M in Sun Belt

Could Arizona progressives hurt chances of Democrats in 2020 races?

The newly purchased Hillary-endorsing newspaper, rife with ASU J school student interns replacing fired reporters, is nothing more than a sickly, anorexic version of its long-gone former self when it was owned by conservatives Eugene and Nina Pulliam and employed actual journalists. Space is obviously an issue. Yet the 11-letter word “progressive,” not previously seen in articles, and never elevated to headline stature where brevity is an imperative — is getting a workout. “Democrat” is three letters shorter. Descriptive “Leftist,” only 7-letters and the preferred choice of SRAZ, is crisp and precise.

Democrat Steve Farley, a former state legislator who ran for Tucson mayor and lost, grouses in an opinion piece that he “was the victim of a  tidal wave of cash spent by progressive Democratic organizations to defeat — and in some cases smear — a Democratic candidate who has served Tucson honorably for 12 years in the state Legislature. That candidate was me.”

There’s that pesky word “progressive” again. Its gestation period is shorter than that of a hamster. And, as we’ve seen, it gives birth to new young progressives in a blink of an eye.

It’s not an issue of word economy. The same intentional word manipulation is found everyday with the word, “Trump” topping numerous negative reports about the president.  He is never accorded the abbreviation “Pres.” in headlines, which is shorter than his last name. Today’s edition has four such examples. Referring to President Trump in any way denoting honor would be a bridge too far for the virulent, unconcealed haters who work for the newspaper.

Only Seeing Red AZ zones in on this truth that guides the local newspaper. Your efforts are much appreciated. There are no conservative media outlets to do this job, and writing letters to the editor would be an exercise in futility. Phil Boas oversaw the take down of his own father-in-law, Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

  2. Realist says:

If anyone is going to influence my thoughts, I’d opt for Dennis Prager over the looney left nut jobs at the Arizona Repukelick any day of the week.

  3. Frankly Speaking says:

Spending money for this poor excuse for a newspaper is equivalent to opening your wallet and flushing the contents down the toilet. The world is a different place. News is available from reliable sources free of charge, from the radio and FOX news network to countess Internet sites that don’t filter content through leftist lenses.

  4. Saguaro Sam says:

Progressive Insurance Co. is a George Soros operation.
Other Leftist companies that should be avoided by conservatives are Starbucks; AARP, and Capitol One banking/credit cards.

Perhaps President Trump should make an offer to Lefties:
a one-way ticket to any destination of their choosing.
With the caveat that the Lefties will surrender their U.S. passports and other forms of legal U.S. identification once their plane has landed in their Promise Land. And then freeze their Social Security accounts.

Did you see what happened to the always-on-vacation Brits last week? The well known travel agency, Thomas Cook, suddenly went out of business after decades. They left stranded in far-flung places, tens of thousands of European citizens.

Some vacationers were stranded in CUBA.
And here is what the Cuban government did—Cuba held them for ransom:

“. . .Thomas Cook customers and staff banned from leaving Cuba unless they paid unpaid bills left by the collapsed travel firm are in the air and heading back to Britain today.

The 11 crew and more than 60 holidaymakers were trapped in the communist state by officials ‘holding them to ransom’ as ‘hostages’ until they handed over between £1,000 and £3,000 in cash.

The victims, who had already paid for their holidays, claim they were ‘held prisoner’ in hotels and even threatened with violence when they refused to hand over the money.

After 48 hours of chaos the British Ambassador to Cuba, Dr Antony Stokes, has now intervened and instructed to allow customers to depart. . . .”

Sounds like a fun time was had by all.

Thanks for providing this information, Sam. I missed it entirely.
Also didn’t know that Progressive Insurance was a Soros operation. The name should have been a dead giveaway. It gives a bit more cover than naming it Socialist Insurance.

    • Doc says:

So, hey Sam….is landing the plane optional?

  5. terry dudas says:

Thanks, Sam, for the confirmation on Progressive Insurance – I always suspected it was a leftist operation and you confirmed it. The bit about the Cuban ransom never hit the US news outlets. Gee, I wonder why?
