Dems fail in D.C. statehood power grab

It was bound to happen. On the rising tide of racial divide following the martyrdom of George Floyd, a career criminal who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer responding to a call of Floyd attempting to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. The death was unnecessary and the former officer is in jail, charged with second-degree felony murder. Three other officers who witnessed the knee to Floyd’s neck are unreasonably facing third-degree murder charges. One was newly hired.

Floyd had been incarcerated multiple times on robbery and narcotics sale convictions. His autopsy report revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 and had numerous drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, cannabis, morphine and oxycotin in his system. Though far from a sterling character, his death was the impetus for riots, arson and looting across the country. It has expanded into an excuse for calls to defund police departments nationwide and destroy historic monuments in what amounts to a cultural revolution by leftists lacking in knowledge of American history as they elevate Floyd to hero status.

The most recent affront is being perpetrated by congressional Democrats who are now pushing for statehood for Washington, D.C. There is a method to their madness. If such a vote were to pass the senate, we would have a minority majority state, where black voters, mostly democrats would alter the dynamics of the U.S. House and Senate.

In a patently partisan 232-180 vote, the U.S. House on Friday approved legislation granting statehood to Washington, D.C. A single Democrat, Collin Peterson (MN) voted against H.R. 51. There is no chance of passage through the Republican controlled Senate, which adheres to the fact that such a move is unconstitutional, since the nation’s founders established the city as a neutral zone outside the influence of state politics for co-equal sovereign states to come together to transact the nation’s business.

The bill violates the 23rd Amendment, which grants D.C. residents the right to vote in presidential elections. That is of no consequence to the Democrat magicians. Their presto-chango legislation included a swift vote to repeal the 23rd Amendment.

Might as well make CHAZ or CHOP, or whatever they’re calling themselves today, a state too while they’re at it.

    • Realist says:

We’re at a point in our history that most of us never could have imagined. I remember seeing bumper stickers years back that said, “If you can read this, thank a teacher.”

Today we need bumper stickers that say, “If your kid is an undereducated anarchist, thank a teacher.”

Our history is back burnered to liberal indoctrination by leftist educrats. Demolishing monuments is what the Communists have done as they ransacked countries.

  2. Patriot Mom says:

Judge Dolly Maizie Gee of the U.S. District of California in LA ruled on Friday that children held for more than 20 days at ICE family residential centers should be released by July 17 to “non-congregate settings,” that include “suitable sponsors” and even to their own parents, who can also be released “if conditions warrant it.”

You can bet they will, regardless of the fact they are all illegal invaders.

The judge was originally nominated by Bill Clinton but was not confirmed. Barack Obama propelled her through.

    • Ellsworth says:

This is another major reason why it’s critical we reelect Donald Trump. His judicial appointments to the federal district benches have been stellar. He’s even reconfigured the radically left Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals!

  3. Villanova says:

President Trump has now had his 200th overall lifetime-appointed Article III judge be confirmed by the Senate. These include federal district courts, circuit courts of appeals, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of International Trade. That pace is faster than every other president in history (except for Dem Jimmy Carter). President Trump’s mostly younger appointees, who will remain on the bench for decades, now make up more than one-quarter of the federal judiciary. It’s a remarkable legacy.

  4. Sam says:

Be aware that George Floyd’s family has filed a petition with the U.N.—that’s right, the United Nations—-regarding police brutality.

Also note that the man they call Obama was determined to turn over the policing activities in the U.S. to U.N. forces.

    Get it?

In Minneapolis, MN., the city council has, in fact, voted to defund/disband their police department. As of today, 3 city council members have hired private security details. Who is paying for it?
Certainly there won’t be many taxpayers left in that city.

Everything has been carefully orchestrated. If they don’t get the traction they need (Ahmaud Arbery death in GA in Feb, Breonna Taylor death in Louisville in March), they just keep working at it.

Notice that, just as the public was tiring of seeing George Floyd being elevated to sainthood, there was a sudden resurgence of the OMG virus.

    FYI:
the Clintons have added 5 to their list in One Week.
Don’t care who you are, no one has hundreds of friends or colleagues, or associates who have died under mysterious circumstances/suicide. Hundreds.
Monica Lewinsky should be grateful that Linda Tripp went public.

  5. Trevor says:

DC statehood has been a pipedream of leftists for decades. Don’t you need to go through a process to become a state not by a simple bill passing?

  6. Strom says:

DC is not going to become a state unless Dems get both houses by a large margin. That isn’t likely to happen even if we lose control.
