Biden establishes Juneteenth as a new holiday in a blatant effort to keep black voters in the democrat party
The Arizona Republic is well known for its far left slant, which is why subscriptions have plummeted. It is also not above skewing facts when it suits its purposes. Today the objects of its bile spew are Arizona Congressmen Paul Gosar (CD-4) and Andy Biggs (CD-5). Their crime is one that is not found in the Arizona Revised Statutes Criminal Code. They have been elected by the citizens of their congressional districts because they are conservatives — a concept that is anathema to the newspaper that has made clear it hires reporters based on their ethnicity.
Congressmen Gosar and Biggs are being eviscerated for voting NO on S. 475, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, which establishes June 19, as a legal public holiday. Juneteenth was the mispronounced term used for June Nineteenth. It is tied to the history of enslaved blacks in Galveston, Texas, learning that they had been emancipated over two years earlier following President Abraham Lincoln’s September 22, 1862 Emancipation Proclamation, which abolished slavery.
Lost in all of the newly provoked racial discord is the fact that Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican U.S. President. Elected November 6, 1860 he was dedicated to ending slavery, which Southern democrats, who had seceded from the union, battled to preserve. The U.S. Civil War (1861-1865), in which an estimated 750,000 Americans died, was fought to end slavery. The Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution passed by congress in 1865 reaffirmed the abolishment of slavery.
Read Paul Gosar’s logical statement explaining his vote. We have also copied it here:
“Our country is divided, and the cultural and political Marxists are continuing their relentless efforts to divide this country further.
Juneteenth is more debunked Critical Race Theory in action. I reject racism. I reject the racial division people are promoting. I voted no because this proposed holiday does not bring us together, it tears us apart.
I cannot support efforts that further racial divisions in this country. We have one Independence Day, and it applies equally to all people of all races.”
Rammed through by democrats exploiting the death of career criminal George Floyd, the Juneteenth holiday vote tally can be seen here. Of a total of 415 votes cast, the democrats all voted in unison. Republicans split, with 195 joining the democrats, and 14 Republicans voting against the creation of a new holiday. Two Republicans, Dan Crenshaw (TX) and Patrick McHenry (NC) did not vote.
Joe Biden, a democrat who has fomented division, wasted no time signing the newly established holiday into law on Thursday.
