Tucson supports anti-2nd Amendment restrictions

Tucson, Arizona has long been known as the ‘People’s Republic of Pima’ due to its radically leftward bent, as democrats significantly outnumber Republicans.

It’s living up to that reputation as noted in this article in the Tucson Daily Star, written by Kathryn Palmer, headlined, “Tucson’s challenge to ‘2nd Amendment sanctuary’ law is latest in local control saga.” It details the collusion between Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and the accommodating Tucson City Council which unanimously passed a resolution saying the state of Arizona is not obliged to uphold federal gun laws.

The council’s action “prohibits the state and political subdivisions from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the U.S. government that is inconsistent with any Arizona law regarding the regulation of firearms,” effectively making Arizona a Second Amendment sanctuary state emulating the cites that provide “sanctuary” to illegal aliens. This is the council’s version of flipping off Second Amendment supporting citizens.

The City of Tucson has effectively thumbed its nose at Constitution supporting citizens and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who signed the straightforward HB 2111 — titled, “Second Amendment Firearm Freedom Act” — into law. The bill, passed by the AZ House and Senate bars in-state enforcement of any federal firearm laws which violate the Second Amendment, by prohibiting police and sheriffs from enforcing federal gun laws that violate the 2nd Amendment.”

Are cities able to override state laws? This doesn’t make sense to me.

We long ago stopped visiting Tucson. Don’t want to put a thin dime in its city coffers.

Thanks for the info on the NRA. I needed a memory jog, and just reinstated my expired membership at a discounted rate and got a great gift. They’re always top quality and the NRA is the organization I count on to defend our Second Amendment rights.

Tucson is a mess. The only political office the sudden “conservative” and previously lifelong democrat Rodney Glassman ever won was a term on the Tucson City Council…to which he was so deeply committed, he left before his term was up.

Wish we could leave here, but are bound by jobs and family.

Yesterday’s SRAZ post, “Biden’s border crisis even worse than we thought” has a link that I posted this morning regarding Mrs. Lake. There’s a 10 minute video on it. LOTSA’ TRUTH regarding Her, as well as an AZFamily reporter….

In other news Kari Lake is saying she is the most pro Trump conservative and yet her campaign manager is Mark Buse who was John McCain’s Chief of Staff in 2008, and was his campaign manager in 2010 when he was lying about JD Hayworth. Really Kari?! And some of her supporters are cultish if you ask me.

    • MAGA Hat Man says:

Good information! Didn’t know that. Any connection to McCain is a bridge too far for me. Besides which, Lake has nothing to recommend her for the top job in the state. Egos are soaring, as we’re seeing every day with new, inexperienced candidates thinking they are political saviors.

      • Trevor says:

Hiring Mark Buse is like hiring Chuck Coughlin, another McCain chump who was Brewer’s puppet master.

As a 30-odd year member of the NRA, I not only encourage people to join the NRA, I also strongly urge folks to join the Arizona Citizens Defense League (https://azcdl.org/). My wife and I became members of the AzCDL at the first gun show we attended in AZ, long before we moved here.
