Who’da guessed? AZ Republic says we don’t pay enough taxes

How fortunate we are to have the tax-‘em-till-they-drop enthusiasts at the Arizona Republic gift us with a front-page, above-the-fold article telling us that taxpayers have the lowest tax burden since the 1950’s.

We couldn’t make this stuff up.

But the Business Insider tells another story in the article titled, Your parents would be stunned at the taxes you’re paying, in which they acknowledge that households across America are spending more on taxes per year than they ever have in history. The report comes complete with a U.S. Census Bureau, White House Office of Management and Budget, and 2010 Economic Report of the President chart (adjusted for inflation) to substantiate the facts presented in the report.

The Heritage Foundation provides a larger version of the chart here.

Unlike the Arizona Republic, they are not pushing a tax hike, and are simply providing facts.

Of course we don’t pay enough taxes, didn’t you know?

Gov. Brewer filled every Napolitano opening/appointee – no cuts. Hey, that’s conservative, right?

Phil Gordon has money for speech writers, personal aid to pay his house bills, etc. And now Grant Woods wants the job next?

But remember, John McCain is our last line of defense.

We get threatened with layoffs of cops and firemen, yet the same Phoenix cops and firemen just got a 6% raise (oh, but the Rep did not report that – they just reported that the generous union workers gave up 3% pay …. hmmmm, let me do the math, they still keep 3% and that’s on top on of the 5% pay raise they got last year).

All the school boards threatened to lay off teachers – yet they hired back just about all after the last budget scare.

Chicken Little is a govt bureaucrat and the Az Rep is the PR man.

And now the Phx city council is talking about a “floating property tax rate”….

They’re floating. We’re sinking. Maybe “Our Last Line of Defense” dry land sailor Johnny Mac will throw me a life saver … or maybe a coupon for a case of Bud so I can at least drink to my own financial demise.

The oil slick of fast sale on more taxes is worse than the mess in the Gulf of Mexico.

Of course we don’t pay enough. (Isn’t that what they say in Greece?)

I may spend the rest of my life still-not-subscribing to the Republic. I don’t even buy the occasional Sunday edition any more. Can’t bring myself to reward bad behavior in even the smallest way.
