SCOTUS redefines marriage

Marriage no longer a union of one man and one woman

Our Founders didn’t realize it when they wrote the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but they guaranteed same-sex couples the “fundamental right” to marry.

In a  5-4 ruling in Obergefell v Hodges, the United States Supreme Court discovered the right of same-sex couples to marry falls under equal protection clause of 14th amendment.

Justice Antonin Scalia ridiculed his colleague Anthony Kennedy’s swing-vote interpretation, writing, “The opinion is couched in a style that is as pretentious as its content is egotistic. Of course the opinion’s showy profundities are often profoundly incoherent.”

Two years ago, Justice Kennedy joined the Court’s four decidedly liberal Justices to strike down a provision of the federal Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage, for purposes of over a thousand federal laws and programs, as a union between a man and a woman only. Today those same liberals, Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor formed the majority with Kennedy.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas dissented.

Barack Obama joyously greeted the news by calling the court’s ruling a “victory for America.”

“This decision affirms what millions of Americans already believe in their hearts: When all Americans are treated as equal, we are all more free,” he said.

This is NOT a civil rights issue. Equality has nothing to do with homosexuals and their desires.

  2. Conservative Since Birth says:

Obama’s had a great week. Three home runs. The trade deal; Obamacare; and same sex marriage.

The trade deal would not have happened if the Republicans hadn’t assisted him once again. On Obamacare, we can thank John Roberts for a second time on that subject. Same sex marriage is a ‘darling’ of the Left and it was a no-brainer. They didn’t need John Roberts’ vote.

All of the above hurt America to the core. Obama’s on a roll. I’m sure if he needs help again in destroying our country, the GOP establishment will arrange it.

Meanwhile, our security threat is at an all-time high and ISIS, along with Obama, is on the march.

  3. Arizona Conservative Guy says:

There is more at stake here than marriage. The entire family structure has been incrementally undermined and now the nation’s highest court condones this breakdown. Actual fathers and mothers are insignificant as science allows for in vitro fertilization pregnancies and female surrogates will give birth to homosexual men’s biological babies, for a price. .Adoption laws also have been liberalized to accommodate the whims of those who have sought normalization. Using children to accomplish their goals has worked for them. The children are necessary collateral.

  4. Kathy says:

Man may redefine marriage – but God never will, since He is the author.

  5. Ellsworth says:

This legal obscenity was accomplished by redefining the meaning of language. Perversion is now “Marriage Equality.”

  6. jon jensen says:

Many gay people are physical conservatives and will start voting republican now.

    • State Delegate says:

Physical conservatives? What the hell is that? You’re as nutty as the fruit cakes you defend. Those interested in self indulgence might be economically conservative but not socially so. This decision will not have any bearing on their politics

  7. Annie O. says:

The destruction of our republic can be laid at the feet of our Republican Party elites who refused to fight for our rights which are enumerated in the Constitution. From McCain, Kyl, Flake, Brewer and Ducey locally to Boehner and McConnell nationally, they are, at a minimum, enablers for Obama’s agenda.

We use to have Republican State Party Officials who would defend the Constitution and criticize those party elites who sided with the Democrats. No longer so. State Party Chairman Robert Graham has elevated McCain to new heights by introducing him to the 2015 State Party Convention with great fanfare.

The resulting explosion of boos, catcalls, turned backs and walk-outs showed Graham what the State Committeemen thought of McCain. But Graham already knew that. He could not have cared less about the opinion of the Party activists. Any question as to who controls the Party structure now?

  8. Frankly Speaking says:

With this same sex marriage abomination called a ruling and the upholding of Obamacare, the US Supreme Court has lifted the robe to reveal itself as simply another leftwing political body. Thank God for the rational Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas. Unfortunately their reliable wisdom is nonexistent with the rest of the court. John Roberts is a major disappointment. Jeb Bush was his solid endorser and promoted him to his brother (then-President) George W. Bush. I hope he’s questioned about the role he played in that appointment during the debates, but it’s doubtful the subject will ever be raised.

  9. Maggie says:

The Supreme Court “finds” interesting things in the Constitution. In legalizing abortion, they found a “right to privacy” that never previously existed in order to justify the slaughter of millions of pre-born Americans. In deciding Roe v. Wade, they deemed abortion a “fundamental right.” They were able to soothe their consciences by referring to the living human with a beating heart secure in its mother’s womb as having the “potentiality of human life.” With modern technology and ultra sound photos showing an actual human baby, I wonder if that charade would have succeeded today? And isn’t it interesting how liberals who abhor the death penalty for heinous criminals deserving of the ultimate punishment, have no problem relegating innocent life to the abortionist’s scalpels and suction tubes?

  10. Conservative Since Birth says:

There are 2% or 3% of “gay” people in this country. You’d think they comprise much more of the population by the way they manage to get their way. They’re loud and never stop. Here’s the latest drama on how they punish those who step out of line.

Decadent hedonism is what both Roe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges are based on. In today’s “anything goes” society, mainline religions are losing members, church attendance is down but degeneracy wins praise. We are following the path of ancient Rome, once a thriving example of a classic republic. Today tourists visit the ruins of the once great civilization.

    • Clark says:

Those Roman ruins are just outside Vatican City. Could be Justice Kennedy, a Catholic, took his cue from Pope Francis, who irrationally said of homosexuals, “Who am I to judge?” Since the church has long been a haven for pedophiles, he should be exactly the right person to “judge.” The bible clearly delineates right from wrong, and male church figures in positions of authority having intimate contact with boys is surely worthy of a judgment call.

  12. Saguaro Sam says:

Justice Scalia seems to hint, in his footnotes, that Justice Kennedy was paid off in exchange for his vote.

    Take a look,

    • Vince says:

Missed that “gem” entirely. Thanks, tho it gives me even more to be concerned about as our country swirls down the toilet. It’s obvious the Supremes are nothing more than political motivated hacks. Now there’s the possibility they can be on the take. Swell.

  13. LEO IN TSN says:

Annie O and others have nailed it exactly – this is just one front on the war against America, and the McEstablishment globalist Republicans are working hand-in-hand with the marxists. This excellent article analyzes their complicity in the destruction of a free America.
    The globalist model for collapse
    http://personalliberty.com/the-eu-and-the-u-s-will-collapse-regardless-of-economic-contagion/

This lays out the plans, with crystal clarity, of the big-government globalist team of Boehner-Ryan-McConnell-Perry-Rubio-Bush-McGrahamnesty-McTraitor-McFlake-the AZ5-possibly Fiorina The Unknown, and yes little McGraham and the AZ McGOP. As you read this article, reflect on the impenetrable secrecy of the Federal Reserve, the mysterious propping up of the World Bank, Int’l Monetary funds, and secret gov’t agencies that give huge loans to private corporations and whose charters are mysteriously renewed by a questionable Congress. Think about the crop of political celebrities who are pushing for an AMNESTY that will destroy US and erase our borders.

If conservatives don’t select a true conservative patriot candidate in this primary, we will be sealing our own fate. If we don’t stand up and start fighting for the freedom to live by God’s laws, we are doomed.

    God bless America.

  14. Anthem Al says:

And now the silencing has begun. Americans with opinions differing from the unelected judges who have thrown the marriage norm down the toilet, will now longer have a voice, referring ro dissent as “hate speech,” akin to “racist, sexist or anti-Semitic” views. The editor noted, “To that, we add homophobic ones. Pretty simple.”

The editorial board of PennLive/The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa. is taking a hardcore stance against those who disagree with the Supreme Court ruling to legalize same-sex marriage. Read their new and revised policies here:
