That gagging sound? Dem endorsing AZ Republic choking

November 9, 2014

Diane Douglas wins AZ Superintendent of Public Instruction race as final votes are tallied

After decades of watching its influence continue to wane, the daily newspaper still crows about its relevance when the exact opposite is the case.  The editorial board’s political endorsements, and repeated rehashes or “recaps” fell flat, with Republicans winning all statewide offices —- once again.  This substantive victory can’t be reduced to a fluke or simply part of the national wave of discontent aimed at Obama and his ilk, it is an echo of previous elections. Yet that doesn’t keep the remaining leftists still drawing paychecks despite massive and ongoing cutbacks, from hammering victorious conservatives.

Currently, the keyboard-armed hooligans are reeling over the triumph of Diane Douglas in the state Superintendent of Public Instruction race. Glibly describing Douglas as the “tea party candidate” in an attempt to marginalize her, the goons would have us believe she was an anomaly with no support, ignoring the endorsements of U.S. Reps. Trent Franks, Paul Gosar, Matt Salmon and David Schweikert and state Senate President Andy Biggs. Nationally syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin, who has written extensively exposing Common Core, was an early Douglas supporter who also congratulated her on her primary victory

The harsh reality for the failing newspaper is that perennial Democrat candidates, wannabe-governor Terry Goddard, running for Secretary of State and Felecia Rotellini, trying yet again to win Attorney General, both lost —- big time. Jim Holway, one of their choices for the two open Corporation Commission seats didn’t make a blip on the election night radar, coming in dead last in a field of four. Now their focus is on the office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. The newspaper’s liberal heartstrings were plucked by leftist David Garcia, a committed Common Core educrat.

In order to explain away his defeat, the Arizona Republic engages in what it has crafted into a repetitive whammy art form. The tactic consists of editorials purporting to be news reports, actual editorials which berate and mock, and finally turning their snarling liberal columnists loose to gnaw at the dominant conservative.

None of it works. Arizonans have long been on to the charade. The newspaper is a farce. Regardless of its grinding angst, Republicans won again.

Though the Arizona Republic attempts to blame Democrat losses on “dark money” and outside spending, grassroots conservative Diane Douglas was wildly outspent by her Democrat opponent.  David Garcia had outside interests dump $802,000 into his campaign to Douglas’ $1,100, proving it was her anti-Common Core message, not his money that carried the day.

This Gallup Poll found that Americans prefer local school boards over implementation of the federal government’s Common Core scheme by a wide margin, 56% to 15%. Among those familiar with the federal overreach nearly a third say state government should have the greatest say on curriculum, opposing the federal program which wrests control from parents and local communities.

In 2012 Obama reminded Republicans he had won. Click here to see the best way to remind the Arizona Republic.

Maricopa County GOP Chairman A.J. LaFaro’s letter

November 7, 2014

In this open letter* to Arizona Republicans, Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) Chairman A.J. LaFaro announces his intention not to seek reelection to the post he has ably held for the past two years.  His strong, conservative leadership skills will be missed

RINO lawyer’s legal intimidation results in non-enforcement of MCRC bylaw

November 7, 2014

Maricopa County Republican chairman  A.J. LaFaro opts out of leadership role

Republican establishment attorney Kory Langhofer showed up at the Maricopa County Republican Executive Guidance Committee meeting Thursday evening to defend six of the eleven precinct committeemen accused of endorsing Democrat candidates who were running against Republicans in Tuesday’s general election.

Those accused who were present struggled to explain why they made the cross party endorsements. Langhofer, in their defense said he would file a lawsuit if the EGC decided  to remove their voting rights, claiming it violated state statutes.

In the end he won again through legal intimidation.

It comes down to the fact that conservatives in the party have lost their right to defend the party against internal attacks perpetrated by RINO renegades and malcontents who would better find a home within the Democrat party.

Maricopa County Chairman AJ LaFaro spoke of his dilemma in regard to the threats of costly lawsuits, despite the fact that the overwhelming opinion of the group was to remove the voting rights. As a result no decision was reached and the issue was tabled.

At the  conclusion of the meeting Chairman LaFaro announced that he would not seek reelection as county chair, nor would he run for state chairman.

Finally…a race Vernon Parker might actually win

November 6, 2014

Vernon Parker has tossed his hat into several political rings, albeit for a nanosecond or two or with decidedly sour results. A former appointed mayor of Paradise Valley, Parker ran a strenuous weeklong campaign for Arizona Governor, before deciding to ditch that gig and run for congress in CD 9. That time he lost to radical leftist Kyrsten Sinema. Previously, Parker lost to problem-plagued, one-termer Ben Quayle. He even gave iffy consideration to running for AZ GOP state chairman. Each aspiration quickly vaporized or was stopped in its tracks. Along the way, Parker has had to fight more than simply ennui.

Now he announces, by way of this congratulatory missive to Legislative District 28 winners and losers alike, that he’s undertaking….hm-m poor turn of phrase there….embarking….on a new venture.

This is one the perennial candidate can actually win.  It provides no opportunity for fundraising subterfuge, and requires neither signs nor mailers or even a campaign manager. This time it’s a straightforward leap into unsalaried altruism. Vernon Parker wants to lead Legislative District 28 as chairman. Though he’s also a McCain supporter, he couldn’t be any worse than the current chair who is rumored to give his morning devotions facing the McPenthouse near the corner of 24th Street and Camelback.

AZ election results, national embrace of GOP

November 5, 2014

Less than one-third —- 29.11% —- of Arizona voters managed to motivate themselves to vote, either by early mail-in ballots, or in person in Tuesday’s election. Despite the apathy in this decisive election, the votes were counted with the following results — Republicans are  shown in Red, Democrats in Blue, winners are in bold type. (I) indicates incumbent.

All statewide offices remain in the Republican column:

Governor: Doug Ducey

Secretary of State: Michele Reagan

Attorney General: Mark Brnovich

State Treasurer: Jeff DeWit

Superintendent of Public Instruction: Diane Douglas

State Mine Inspector: Joe Hart

Corporation Commissioners (2): Tom Forese, Doug Little

AZ Congressional races:

CD1:  Ann Kirkpatrick (I), Andy Tobin

CD2:  Martha McSally (R), Ron Barber (I) (McSally’s victory increases GOP delegation to 5)

CD3Raul Grijalva (I), Gabby Saucedo Mercer

CD4:  Paul Gosar (I), Mike Weisser

CD5:  Matt Salmon (I), James Woods

CD6:  David Schweikert (I), John Williamson

CD7:  Ruben Gallego, Other parties, no Republicans

CD8:  Trent Franks (I),

CD9:   Kyrsten Sinema (I),Wendy Rogers

State House and Senate district results are available here.

Once again, Arizona voters have rejected liberal Terry Goddard’s efforts to emulate his single-term governor father, this time attempting to gain the office through the back door circuitous route often provided by the Secretary of State.

Amid the statewide victories, comes the stellar news of Republicans picking up national governorships and taking control of the U.S. Senate, in a stunning repudiation of the failed Obama administration and its over-arching policies. In the House, the GOP won 246 seats, its largest majority since World War II.  Republicans have also swept state legislatures across the U.S.

Colorado, Iowa, Montana, South Dakota, Arkansas, West Virginia, and North Carolina have all moved from Democrat strongholds to the Republican column. Kansas and Georgia have held onto their contested seats. Still to be decided are Virginia, Alaska and Louisiana —- where a December runoff is scheduled.

As of Tuesday night, Obama had not issued a statement on this stinging snub. Unable to deal with the harsh reality of American voters venting their fury via the massive rejection of his disregard of the Constitution, Obama is off on another trip. He’s heading to China and Burma, with a side trip to Australia, where he’ll likely get in a few rounds of golf.

“An Election About Everything”

November 4, 2014

Congressional, statewide and legislative district elections take place today. Propositions are on the ballot. Vote your values! There will not be a do-over

Today’s election is as important as most of us have encountered in our lifetimes. The national midterms will, without a doubt, determine the future of our country. Charles Krauthammer was on “The Kelly File” discussing the  impact of the midterm elections underway today. “This is a referendum on Obama’s hyper-liberalism,” he said. “This is liberalism on trial.”

Stephen Hayes, writing for the Weekly Standard, calls it “An Election About Everything.”

“It’s about the size and scope of government. It’s about the rule of law. It’s about the security of the citizenry. It’s about competence. It’s about integrity. It’s about honor.  It’s about an electorate determined to hold someone responsible for the policy failures that have defined this administration and the scandals that have consumed it—even if many in the fourth estate will not.

And it’s about time,” Hayes rightly concluded.

His single-page commentary is insightful and concise. His analysis is definitely worth your time.

Today of all days.

AZ CD 9: Republican Wendy Rogers leads by 6 points

November 3, 2014

The news couldn’t be better in the Ninth Congressional District race between Republican Wendy Rogers, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and freshman incumbent Kyrsten Sinema, a self-described “Prada socialist.” Despite the large cash infusions aimed at keeping the leftist Sinema in office, the race is showing strong signs of veering right.

As of Friday, nearly 50 percent of Republican voters had returned approximately 5.600 more early ballots than Democrats. Those numbers do not factor in the nearly 30 percent of registered Independents, many of whom are just as eager for a change from the Obama-supporting Sinema.

Keep the momentum going.  Call your Republican friends and neighbors and remind them to vote on Tuesday. It’s never been more important.
