Shutdown? GOP U.S. Reps still working to backdoor amnesty

October 2, 2013

Why are GOP amnesty hustlers disregarding the  plight and concerns of American citizens, as they aid Obama’s scheme for increasing Democrats?

As our attention is diverted by the government shutdown of “non-essential services” in the wake of an attempted defunding of Obamacare — all great media fodder — something else is simmering behind the scenes.

ABC News carries the AP report that House Republicans are still hard at work on amnesty. You might not have heard the word mentioned lately as the federal overreach into our healthcare has taken center stage, but that illegal immigration overhaul legislation, craftily called “comprehensive” by its proponents is alive and well.  As the nation is sidetracked, those GOP members we elected are toiling to bring in competition for our jobs and our kid’s university placements.

Those folks we helped put in their cushy offices along the Potomac need to hear from us. (Contact information under link) Obamacare is large scale and unsustainable socialism that will alter our health care delivery in unimagined ways and with disastrous ramifications, such as age restricted care.

Amnesty will legitimatize criminal behavior, ultimately rewarding upward of 25 million illegals with the gift of American citizenship.  Yet that doesn’t appear to deter its supporters.

“I would think that would be the next agenda item in the queue after we’re done with this mess,” said Texas Republican Congressman Mike McCaul, referring to bitter divisions over the health law, the level of government spending and the growing federal debt.

Arizonans know this farce all too well. With our southern border the major portal for the invasion of foreign nationals, and having been sold out by the original architects of so-called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” — Sen. John McCain and former Sen. Jon Kyl.

Jeff Flake who succeeded Kyl has long been solidly onboard this train wreck.  During his years in the U.S. House, he partnered with Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez on this maneuver. In this article, “The Numbers Are On Our Side,” written for Progress Illinois, radical liberal Gutierrez credits Flake for his assistance in turning more red states blue.

Why would Republicans be aligning with Democrats to import millions more Democrats to ensure the demise of the GOP? How are unemployed or underemployed American citizens well served by a massive surge of new workers competing for still scarce jobs?  How do native-born American students benefit when illegals cunningly described as “DREAMers” vie for university placements and ultimately for a limited number of jobs?

It’s time to once again marshal our forces and remind our members of congress that we helped put them where they are and we will work to return them home. They are called representatives because they are supposedly representing the citizens of their state.

Obamacare scandal: tax $$ fund H-1B visa workers, offshore jobs

October 1, 2013

Technical glitches hamper Obamacare enrollment

The problem-plagued government takeover of American’s health care doesn’t officially take effect until Jan. 1, though mandatory compliance will be in full force March 31 as new federal requirements compel all Americans to carry health insurance or face fines.

Yet those trying to sign up on Healthcare.gov were instead met with error messages including one warning the “system is down” and another claiming too many people are flooding the site.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius pleaded with reporters to “cut [her] some slack,” as she weakly acknowledged there “would probably be some site issues.” in the coming days and weeks as Obamacare moves forward.

Sebelius skirted the issue that many of the “consumer guides” or “navigators” hired to help people sign up for coverage aren’t even certified to do so. That might be due to the fact that English is not their native language. In this 2-page report, Computerworld recently exposed the massive outsourcing  of these jobs to offshore companies, such as Infosys, a major Indian technology conglomerate, which received 5,600 approvals last year.  Infosys recently announced that it had won a $49.5 million contract to develop a health benefit exchange for the District of Columbia. Washington Business Journal reports the award has the potential worth of $86 million to Infosys’ subsidiary Infosys Ltd.

Cognizant Technology Solutions, based in Teaneck, N.J., but with worldwide operations,  conducts a major share of its work overseas. It has been one of the largest users of H-1B visas, getting more than 9,000 approvals last year, according to government records. A $71.4 million IT contract was awarded to Cognizant, which ranks in the top seven for procuring H-1B visa workers.

Illinois’ Democrat Gov. Patrick Quinn circumvented a three-year procurement process on up to $190 million in no-bid IT contracts, allowing Medicaid Management Information System to outsource state jobs to India.

Adam Andrzejewski, who heads Open the Books Project, a group urging transparency in public spending, reports that visa workers will be used in multiple states including the Illinois Medicaid systems project. He pointed to the state’s high unemployment as one reason why using such workers is flawed policy. The staggering Illinois statewide unemployment rate is 9.2%, the second highest in the U.S.

As full-time employment continue to elude American workers — rates worsened by skittish businesses uncertain of the ramifications of Obamacare — the outrage over the fed’s outsourcing of jobs as it overreaches into our personal healthcare decisions, should be palpable.

Even the left-of-center Huffington Post acknowledges the dire situation.

AZ Fed judge rules for illegal invaders, binds law enforcement

September 30, 2013

More absurdity from the federal courts

In a farcical interpretation of the law, U.S. District Judge Robert Broomfield has prohibited Maricopa County from enforcing a state law that permits illegal aliens who paid coyote/transporters to smuggle them into the U.S. to be charged under Arizona’s human smuggling law as criminal co-conspirators.

Broomfield’s 60-page ruling (view here) said Maricopa County’s interpretation of the 2005 state law cannot be enforced by either Sheriff Joe Arpaio or Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and his office’s prosecutors, since Broomfield  claims it conflicts with federal law — which Broomfield said supersedes Arizona‘s law. Missing from his ruling is the fact that the Obama Department of Justice treats this crime of invasion as a lesser civil issue.

Peter Schey, a lawyer representing the Hispanic activists who brought the legal challenge, was quoted as stating the ruling “will hopefully bring to an end a mean-spirited and short-sighted policy that has severely harmed a large number of immigrants during the past several years in an entirely unconstitutional manner.”

Hispanic advocacy groups deceptively refer to themselves “immigrant rights advocates.”   The Court appointed Schey, President of the liberal Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law and Carlos Holguin, General Counsel of the group, as lead counsel.

According to news reports, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is reviewing Broomfield’s ruling.

Seventy-five percent of the approximately 2,000 foreign nationals charged as co-conspirators in MaricopaCounty were facing counts of conspiring to illegally sneak themselves into the country. The going rate paid to those they conspire with in this criminal activity varies between $2,000 – $6,000 per illegal.

This is not rocket science. By paying to be illegally transported into the United States, these illegal aliens are engaging in advancing criminal activity as co-conspirators.

In 2008, SRAZ reported the Arizona Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of an illegal alien prosecuted as a co-conspirator under the state’s human-smuggling law. The court found that the law’s wording was “clear and unambiguous” — illegals can be convicted for conspiracy to smuggle themselves into the country.

Makes sense to us.

AZ Republic’s Dokes advocates socialist “evolution” & UPDATE

September 29, 2013

Today’s Quick Hit by Arizona Republic editorial board member and Viewpoints editor Jennifer Dokes is telling. It should more aptly be titled a Marxist Drive-by.

Dokes writes that the “big change[s]” of Obamacare will require people to “evolve” to accommodate to what she describes as shattered norms. Dokes slickly omits the soaring costs, limitations and restricted medical care contained in the 20,000 page law.

In six short sentences she makes the case for Socialism. Revolutionary Socialist Karl Marx would have been proud. As Western European nations are reeling from the unsustainable costs of their socialized delivery of medicine, America — under Barack Obama and aided by liberal advocates such as Dokes, are running headlong into the abyss.

According to the Government Accountability Office, Obamacare is projected to add $6.2 trillion to the nation’s long-term deficits, despite presidential assurances that it wouldn’t add a “single dime” to our red ink.

Reading her words, it’s obvious even Obama stooge Jennifer Dokes didn’t believe the Prez when he repeatedly said, “If you like your doctor or you like your health care plan you can keep your doctor or keep your plan. Period.”

Update-tag

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is neither “affordable” nor does it offer “protection.”

Does Obamacare loving Jennifer Dokes realize that provisions within the 20,000 pages actually sanction federal authorization for forced warrant-less home inspections on the American people? Is she willing to “evolve” that far? Among the specifically targeted groups are “eligible families who, or that include individuals who, are serving or formerly served in the Armed Forces, including such families that have members of the Armed Forces who have had multiple deployments outside of the United States.”

The entire list of Americans who have lost their Constitutional right to security within the walls of their own homes is here under the title “Affordable Care Act – Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program.” Are you among those targeted for “programmatic areas of emphasis?” You are if you or anyone living in your home use tobacco products or even if your kids are scoring low on school tests.  Serving your country in the military assures you have lost your rights.  Check this out for yourself.

McHeavenly match: McCain hires pro-Syrian rebel liar

September 29, 2013

Earlier this month, we reported on Dr. Elizabeth O’Bagy, the gal with a fake Ph.D. whose op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal served as a catalyst for urging U.S. use of force in the Syrian powder keg. The 26-year-old Syria researcher’s writing was cited by both Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. John McCain during congressional hearings as they advocated for U.S. strikes.

When it was revealed that in additional to lying about her educational credentials, O’Bagy was the political director — lobbying for the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a group that advocates within the United States on behalf of Syria’s rebels — the Institute for the Study of War abruptly fired her as announced in this terse memo.

At the time, we wrote: Here in Arizona we think we know this duplicitous guy.  Read these linked articles to get a flavor of how little we actually know about McCain’s back door dealing in the halls of the senate.  It’s bad enough that we are continually deceived by this marginal man of ample ego and limited intelligence, but his advocacy for entering a war zone from which there is little hope of resolution — based on the urgings of a winsome lobbyist paid to encourage our involvement, is beyond reprehensible.

So it should come as no surprise that the less than honest John McCain has hired this young counterpart Elizabeth O’Bagy as a legislative assistant. The two posers should get along famously. This is McCain’s gushingly enthusiastic statement regarding his new staffer: “Elizabeth is a talented researcher, and I have been very impressed by her knowledge and analysis in multiple briefings over the last year. I look forward to her joining my office.”

“Talented,” indeed. O’Bagy has honed the skills of lying like a rug, which no doubt should appeal to practiced deceiver John McCain.

Daniel Greenfield of FrontPageMag, is an expert on radical Islam. His excellent report as the events unfolded can be read here: “McCain’s Syria Expert Doubles as Syrian Lobbyist.”

25 GOP Sens shamefully join Dems to fund Obamacare

September 28, 2013

AZ Sens McCain and Flake aid Dems as 19 stalwart Republican senators stood tall against cloture

Twenty-five senate Republicans led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and self-styled maverick, Arizona Sen. John McCain disappointingly joined with Harry Reid and the 54 unified Senate Democrats Friday to vote for cloture. This placed Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a position where he could strip the bill of its provisions defunding ObamaCare with a simple party-line majority rather than the 60 votes needed on cloture.

Nineteen honorable Republicans voted against cloture. Only two Republicans — Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake and Orrin Hatch — missed the vote due to family weddings. Flake issued a statement saying he would have voted against cloture and also against Reid’s amendment and the final Continuing Resolution that funded ObamaCare — but we’ll never actually know, will we? He’s missed important votes before.

Using his kids as cover for avoiding votes appears to be a recurring situation for Flake. Previously Flake’s reason for not voting was his daughter’s beauty pageant talent competition, which was later revealed as not even occurring on the same day as the crucial Cap and Trade vote he flaked on. Whether his 20-year-old son Austin’s wedding was actually on Friday raises another question, since most weddings are weekend affairs and we do live in the age of jet travel. Unfortunately for Flake’s Arizona constituents, he’s got other kids to hide behind as future issues he’d prefer to avoid, arise. This one was particularly sticky for the pragmatically ambitious  Flake since his Mcmentor John McCain, once again sided with the Democrats. It was clearly advantageous to take a hike.

The roll call vote can be seen here.

And after shafting Americans these senators who have exempted themselves from the harsh ObamaCare regulations and restrictions — packed their bags and blithely flew home — following Jeff Flake’s earlier lead.

Educrat trio: Huppenthal, Brewer, AZ Republic

September 27, 2013

Striving for a bold approach and strutting its leftward stuff, the Arizona Republic has outdone itself in editorially supporting Obama’s attempt to nationalize the American education system. Reacting to the ham-handed dual efforts of Gov. Jan Brewer and Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal to magically re-christen Common Core as “Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards” — hoping no one will notice — the newspaper now advises them to “Go ahead, say Common Core.”

Although the Republic recently provided Huppenthal ample space for a “My Turn” column titled:Why Common Core needs a new name,” — in which he actually acknowledges the deceptive rebranding — the editorial board has had a change of heart.

The latest editorial claims the name change is a mistaken effort to “pacify the far right,” showing the disconnect the paper has with concerned citizens and alarmed parents. With the back of its inky hand, the newspaper and its cohorts have clearly dismissed us as the tin foil hat brigade.

Brewer and Huppenthal have come to the conclusion that Arizonans and Americans across the nation (video) have figured out that Common Core, when fully implemented, will place control of our school system in the hands of unelected Washington bureaucrats. But deceptively attempting to alter the name of this federal overreach is the least of the problems AZ’s Common Core proponents have.

Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal is out of step with Arizona parents and teachers who are united in opposition to Common Core. The obvious dangers of the implementation of Common Core by Obama/Duncan Department of Education are just the tip of the iceberg. As with all federal programs, the full extent of the collateral damage will best be viewed in retrospect. Concerns about the demise of our nation from the pre-eminent leader of the world to second class status are not limited to the “far right.” Americans of every political persuasion care about their children and understand the basic concept of retaining local control of public schools.

Conservative political commentator and syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin has pledged to devote her energies to exposing the federal overreach that is Common Core. Some of her articles can be read here.

McCain’s disgusting spectacle: colludes with, surrenders to, Dems

September 26, 2013

John McCain once again appeases far left

Arizona’s revolting maverick is back to his old tricks. Taking to the senate floor to shamefully pay homage to the Democrats for the process” they used to pass ObamaCare, he attempted to bully Sen. Ted Cruz for his principled 21-hour defunding filibuster marathon. The Dems cries of a massive government shutdown linked to defunding the costly and restrictive healthcare scheme is simply another slippery maneuver, but they can always count on McCain to bolster their case.

The incoherent John McCain, doing the work of, and for, the senate liberals, blistered Cruz in tandem with far-left extremists Charles Schumer, Harry Reid and Dick Durbin.

In a “respectful” nod to his liberal colleagues and his pal Obama, McCain repeatedly referred to the federal takeover of Americans health care as the “Affordable Care Act,” rather than ObamaCare. His rambling harangue included: “We fought and we lost… it was an interesting debate…and I’m proud the other side of the aisle allowed that debate to take place… Elections have consequences. All of us should respect the outcome of elections which reflect the will of the people.” Blah, blah, blah.

Following Cruz’ inspiring speech, establishment Republicans experienced massive numbers of calls to their offices, in support of defunding ObamaCare.  McCain’s phone was in melt-down mode. Callers heard an outgoing  message saying the voicemail box was full.

For an excellent assessment, we recommend “John McCain Appeases,” by American Thinker’s Daren Jonescu. And after you’ve finished, be sure to read the comments following the column. They sound as though they were written by Arizona Republicans who are tired of being hoodwinked by a very mediocre man.
